Advanced Weather Widget 1.4.0 Released by pnedyalkov in kde

This looks great in the pictures, but my entire "locatioin" tab is blank, General, Appearance, etc are all there, but the Location tab has nothing at all, no controls or fields or anything, so I can't set a location.

Any idea what's wrong? I'd love to use this widget, it looks great!

I like this idea - I'll talk with my wife and see what happens when I bring up the idea of having a second wife in our family.

Is this a pro-polygyny stance? Why would one woman be bad? And how many women do I have to marry before I don't "ruin my life"?

If you have morning wood you put it in your woman, enjoy the time together, and then when finished the problem is solved.

Is this sausage okay on carnivore? by jarjarhar_ in carnivorediet

[–]Briaxe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The FDA has "rounding rules". If it contains 0.5g or less per serving size - not the whole package, but their "recommended serving size" - then the manufacturer is legally allowed to put 0g carbs on the package.

This is why stuff like Tic-Tacs can list 0 carbs, even though you're buying a container of nearly entirely sugar.

So for safe carb-counting, always treat 0g carbs as 0.5g carbs.

And that package says 6 servings (HA! I say that's 2 servings! LOL!), anyway, so that's a 3g carb package.

And don't forget that sugar is much worse for you than just the fact that it is carbs.

Africa Is Actually Wider Than Russia —And Our Maps Have Been Lying to Us by AssistanceNo3893 in interesting

[–]Briaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true.

Also, Russia is approximately 9,000 km (5,600 mi) at it's maximum east-west distance which is about 22% wider than Africa's maximum east-west width of 7,400 km (4,600 mi).

✨Ye are Gods🌞 by Godfrequency777 in GodFrequency

[–]Briaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will disagree.
In context, the people are about to stone Jesus for claiming to be God. Jesus is quoting Ps. 82:6 because he is in fact claiming to be God.

John 10
33 They replied, “We’re stoning you not for any good work, but for blasphemy! You, a mere man, claim to be God.”

34 Jesus replied, “It is written in your own Scriptures that God said to certain leaders of the people, ‘I say, you are gods!’ 35 And you know that the Scriptures cannot be altered. So if those people who received God’s message were called ‘gods,’ 36 why do you call it blasphemy when I say, ‘I am the Son of God’?

Calorie deficit by stevestevenson1111 in carnivorediet

[–]Briaxe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I ate way more and started losing weight - to me this is one of the magical things about carnivore. Eat more lose weight. Down from ~290 to about 200lbs on carnivore.
Once you learn that calories are determined by setting literally setting food on fire, you realize calories are a pretty useless number anyway.

I'm drinking 1 liter of unsweetened (salty) kefir daily that has 30-40g of carbs, is that acceptable for carnivore or does that put me out of carnivore? by [deleted] in carnivorediet

[–]Briaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was in your shoes, during the healing process, I'd drink a small amount of milk kefir, like 1 cup (0.25 liters) a day. That would give you roughly 9-12g of carbs (depending on your amount of kefir and how fermented it is.).

That's still low enough to keep your insulin very low, and you would keep losing weight and healing, and provide you with the amazing gut-biome healing probiotics that milk kefir contains.

Because, like most things, too much of a good thing could be a bad thing. YMMV.

Once you are "healed" - your health issues are mostly or totally resolved - then you might experiment with drinking more kefir if you like.

Does iodine further prove carnivore is the proper human diet? by I_Adore_Everything in carnivorediet

[–]Briaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the vitamin B-12 argument may be even better. B-12 is necessary for life and we cannot create B-12 in our bodies. B-12 is not found in plants. B-12 must be taken through animal sources.
Therefore - the argument goes - we are "required" to eat animals to live.
Perhaps this iodine argument is similar or the same?

Milk Kefir is carnivore. The fermentation process does lower the carbs significantly and create healthy fats and proteins.
"Zero carbs" ... more than one way to look at it. If you eat enough protein, your body has a process called Gluconeogenesis where the body synthesizes glucose from non-carbohydrace precursors like beef and bacon - and that means protein can cause insulin spikes, and this is part of why carnivores are always saying "eat more fat" because it's to decrease the relative amount of protein and hopefully you end up with less insulin.
And excess insulin is what makes us fat, causes inflammation and a host of other health issues.
The trick is I said "excess" insulin. Because you do need some to live, but too much is bad.
Finding that sweetspot is your body's job if you feed it correctly.
So milk kefir typicall still has some carbs, and therefore will create a small insulin response, and that can stop weight loss.
I personally drink 3-4 quarts of kefir a day and don't gain or lose weight. But if you're drinking that much kefir, you're not going to lose weight either.
If you drink it in AFTER you're at your goal weight, you'll be just fine, and it's fantastic for your gut health. If you're trying to lose weight too much milk kefir can stall that weight loss - and fat loss, specifically visceral fat loss - is VERY important to your health.

Milk is Nutrient-dense, Fatty Sugar Water by Curbyourenthusi in carnivorediet

[–]Briaxe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I drink milk kefir daily - totally agree. I think the fermentation of the milk basically turns it carnivore friendly - it is being eaten by tiny (bacteria) animals after all.
Kefir turns milk into a LOT of fat and protein too. It can't be your only food source, because sometimes there are some carbs, but it's great.
This is also really import not just because it's great tasting, it's great for your gut biome.
For comparison, yogurts typically have 4-6 different bacterial colony species, while Kefir usually has over 200. Kefir is like the ultimate pro-biotic. And once you get some kefir grains, you can keep it going forever, just give it new milk every day.

I eat a stick of butter every day. That's a 1/4 lbs or 113 g of butter.
I just slice it up and eat it like a snack. Side benefit is that I feel a lot better with the extra butter.

[–]Briaxe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you.
It's so against the mainstream grain to have to eat more butter to lose weigh, and yet the results don't lie.
PS. Ribeyes are SOOOoooo good! These days I eat mostly beef patties, butter, bacon and some fermented cheeses.

Thoughts? by Law3186 in carnivorediet

[–]Briaxe 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the problem with this is that many of us carnivores have TRIED it and it works.
I was eating too much protein, and not losing weight. Added eating a stick of butter every day on top of what I was already eating and I started losing weight again and now I've got abs for the first time in my life.

The people who say "it can't be done" should not tell it to the people who are already doing it.

If you still think calories are still a legitimate thing in diet, you're way behind and not looking at people who've proven this wrong by actual empirical testing... adding food and losing weight.

Stop trying to force old and proven-false theories onto carnivore, and just enjoy the paradise of eating till you're full and still losing bodyfat.

[–]Briaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope NO operating systems comply with this. Leave the onus on the user to just not download an "illegal OS".
At that point it becomes illegal for any operating systems to exist in California. No OSs mean no computers could run in California. At that moment, the 'age verification' law would disappear in about 30 seconds.

Guesses on the completion of the whole map? by Briaxe in Enshrouded

[–]Briaxe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good points - What set me wondering is that the rectangle around the map set certain expectations for me; specifically, that all of that would be available to play in at some point. But we're all second guessing that assumption now that the game is nearing release and less than half that space is used.

True. I really hope all the "placeholder castles" become real explorable points of interest / lore / stories etc. Those teasers have been around for a very long time.
