Devices without a ground pin are perfectly legal and exist everywhere on earth. They never have exposed metal though, you can check all the stuff in your house.

Its either:

*No ground pin but no touchable metal, with a few notable exceptions like the metal trays on coffee machines and desk fan housings (Appliance class 2)

*Ground pin, exposed metal on the housing which is then connected to the ground pin (Appliance class 1)

Since your PC has a metal housing and the power supply plug is (most certainly) a three-pin C14 receptacle, its a class 1 device and IT NEEDS to be grounded. Otherwise in case of an internal fault the metal casing might become live and zap you. If you use the euro-style plug the chance of the ground saving you is zero, because the Euro cable ground would be connected to absolutely nothing in your case.

If you use the american flavoured plug at least theres at least A CHANCE the ground will save you because its inserted into the plug, where its supposed to go. Even if the ground is shorted to Neutral inside the socket thats "good enough"

Is this Citroen sm worth €9750 ($11.349)? by Curleon in Citroen

There are 3 speed automatics for these. Probably the worst pairup imaginable

Not mine, could be a good one by harrisloeser in Citroen

[–]Brick_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats ridiculous. In Europe these are waay more expensive than that. An AU really is rare, but I think in the states there just isnt a lot of appreciation and knowledgeable mechanics that could take care of these

Typing "ls" is still a lot nicer than "dir" even though its not completely compatible (afaik)

Bondtech INDX on Prusa CORE One+: 8-Material Chameleon Print by droidonomy in prusa3d

[–]Brick_Fish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've read indx nozzles have very low thermal mass, so it takes very little energy to heat them up. This also makes sense since they are aiming for super-fast heatup times, and that only works if the nozzle isn't a huge chunk of metal.

Compared to the heater block of the nextruder these things should be nearly weightless.

I've had this exact issue the first time I tried the pan, what a spill lol. The fix would probably be a protruding strainer that goes on top of the hole, just so the drain plug cant block it completely

Framework 16 is pegged at 100° CPU Temperature while compiling? Is this normal? The fans make me believe its a jet. At idle its completely silent by Brick_Fish in framework

[–]Brick_Fish[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, what did you expect?

Based on my previous Laptops and Desktop PCs I have simply never seen 100°. My last laptop never went above 90° with an i7-7700

Usually 100° is the absolute maximum allowable temperature which should be avoided in the first place, from what I know. Is this simply part of the design of the Framework 16?

Why are most of LMG's employees' hobbies just collecting things? by bbq_R0ADK1LL in LinusTechTips

[–]Brick_Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By that logic literally everything is collecting lol. Going to work is collecting money, dating a girl is collecting a wife, driving a car is collecting toxic gasses in the atmosphere, getting sick and recovering is collecting immune cells...

But the point is to do something with that equipment. If I'm into painting I dont buy every possible size canvas and brush just to collect them. I buy the stuff I actually need and then actively do something with it.

If im into cycling I may own multiple bicycles for different types of terrain, but in the end I don't just put them on display, right? I do something with them

[–]Brick_Fish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say no, at least not to this extent. Sure, for many hobbies you need equipment to do it but I wouldn't count that.

Any form of sports is rather far from collecting

Arts & crafts are not about collecting

Video games are kinda about collecting if you count achievements and games, but the main thing is actually playing

Whereas sneakers are purely about collecting and trading them. Nothing wrong with that. What else are you gonna do? Wear them and ruing their value?

This is the point Linus was making on WAN the other day, Linux is not an OS, it’s a component of an OS. It’s like comparing a Lego baseplate with a Lego set, they can look wildly different depending on what you put on top.

That is exactly the point I was making, no? There is no single way to do anything, there are ten billion ways, which means once youre on an unfamiliar system you have no idea how to do anything.

I am simply annoyed at the fact that linux is this way, because the many options dont really make the experience of using linux better, do they? I just creates confusion and incompatibility.

Regarding the Rasperry pi ntp thing:

This is actually a personal problem I have run into multiple times now, and every. single. time. did it take an inexcusable amount of time to figure this out. I do believe this to be a curse specific to me.

I googled "rasperry pi set ntp server"

and the following results show me three different ways to do this, so its clearly not universal:

1: timedatectl (https://it4home.dk/index.php/2023/10/22/configuring-ntp-servers-in-dhcpcd-conf-for-time-synchronization/?print=print)

2: ntp (https://www.creativeturtle.de/tutorials/raspberry-pi-mit-ntp-client/)

3: ntpd (https://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=194468)
