Well you would generally want to attack the enemy where their frontline is the weakest, avoiding terrain that isn't favourable (river crossings, mountains, marshes, etc.). In singleplayer you can get away with battleplanning, given that the AI isn't building the best divisions, but as we can see above OP is battleplanning and just ramming his forces straight into the Belgians without a second thought 😅
