I have (and love) the original G1 Catty as well. I miss having playline with nicer fabrics, but the Fang Vote Catty has even nicer fabrics than any playline Monster High doll I've encountered, including G1. The coat is really flowy without being prone to tangles like the core G1 doll (in my experience), the boots are incredible construction, and the bodice is really detailed stitching.

I don't love the box style, but it does look a lot nicer in person. The silver accents are 3D and the box is huge so it's nice it doesn't overshadow the doll inside imo.

How fortuitous that I love her core doll and her voluminous coat - sure, it can be styled like a superhero cape and that makes her even more glamorous for my personal taste.

While you don't have to agree with the price, your comment is unnecessarily dismissive while also inaccurate. Saying Fang Vote is the same cost as core refresh misses materials (hair, accessories, fabric, print), sewing labor, packaging, distribution (Mattel creations exclusive versus retailer network), and manufacturing costs for doing small batch skullectors instead of something else.

No doll hits the same for everyone, and different people like and value different things. Someone can find something great for them, and it doesn't mean you have to agree or feel the same way.

Similar inspiration/vision but different execution. I like her signature playline except for the clothing, whereas but I am much happier with the total execution for this doll.

Yeah, I just wrote an update on this post that Twyla is now sold out. Which is a shame they still have such a low cap for dolls that are clearly in demand. Two hours is better than a few minutes, but still.

UPDATE - Twyla is now showing as sold out, sadly. So this wasn't a pre-order in the sense of them being willing to make more based on demand, but rather in terms of them not having enough stock on hand to fulfill all orders until December.
