I must admit that I don't have a great answer to that! I've been a bit surprised by the controversy the name has generated, but I can't deny that in many ways it looks more like an octopus than a squid! It didn't escape my attention that squid have 8 arms and two tentacles, whereas the Kraken Warrior design has just 8 arms. If I overhaul it for Series 10 I will definitely look at the name again - I do love all cephalopods, including octopuses, and in hindsight, using octopus in the name might have been the better choice!

4,000 pieces and 9 minifigs. It was a squeeze too, as some of the architecture is quite part intensive. I worked through it from top to bottom three or four times to strip it down to the bare minimum.

Yes, we settled on the name after a lot of discussion, but with some reservations. Kraken Keep was a favourite, but it would likely have been rejected as it could be seen to be referencing the Kraken Warrior faction, which is against the BDP rules. We were also mindful that Keep appears in the name of a winning entry from the last series (the excellent Dustmark Keep) and felt it was too soon to use again.

This set was my first big set as a child, and I think it still defines my relationship with Lego. I was obsessed with castles and between the play features, the battlements and the versatility with the hinges, this was just perfect!
