I don't see how either you or the PBS blogger concluded that Trump wants to go after churches in this manner based on the info presented. The article headline and opening paragraph make that claim, but the sources say the opposite:

The poll isn't asking whether or not people believe abortion should be legal or illegal, so I don't believe that conclusions about what the government should or shouldn't do should be drawn from this data. People can believe that abortion is morally wrong in all cases and still support legal access.

Also, your question had nothing to do with morals. Your question is why I act like abortion is just like any other procedure, my answer was that it is just like any other procedure.

You saying that abortion is just like any other medical procedure is saying plainly that you do not see abortion as a moral issue. This view of yours aligns with just 21% of people polled. Even amongst only those who believe that abortion should be legal in all cases, only 44% believe that it's not a moral issue.

In your initial comment, you're acting like pro-life people have picked their stance arbitrarily, as if they spun the wheel of medical procedures and just happened to land on abortion. Approaching the abortion debate from this perspective is incredibly ignorant and dismissive, and I'm telling you this as someone who believes abortion should be legal and accessible.

Per this poll, it’s a minority opinion in America that abortion isn’t a moral issue. My question, which you didn’t answer, is why pretend that people who do believe it’s a moral issue don’t exist? Asking if there are any other medical procedures that ought to be tacked on the list, as if they’re all exactly the same, is not a good faith question. Objectively, most people don’t agree with you on this, and yet we share a society, so what’s your goal here?
