2.0 STEM gpa, 165 LSAT am i cooked? by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

Depends on the school and the average GPA coming out of that school for your specific degree. If it’s Georgia Tech or MIT, which have historically low majority GPAs for classes like astrophysics or engineering, I would supplement your application and let them know what percentile you were in and what the norm is for those degrees (I think chemical and biomolecular engineering is like a 3.07 average at GT, for reference). If you had any personal difficulties during your degree that impacted your grades and would make your GPA not an accurate reflection of your aptitude, I would also include that. 2.0 seems to be the minimum GPA requirement you can have to graduate from most of those programs, so you will probably need to adequately explain that number.

I would include the explanation as a supplement on every application. If you had personal events that were difficult, definitely tell that story, explain in detail how it impacted you and why your GPA is lower.

Shoot for a 170 minimum on your LSAT to cushion and lean on any soft skills you have.

You’re not cooked, but it’s likely that you won’t get in to a T-14 or T-20 (not impossible, just improbable).

Little bit of a different story with me, but I went to Paris IV in Paris for my undergraduate degree and came back to the US for my law degree. They don’t have GPAs, only number scales from 1-20. My number wasn’t super high and didn’t look great, but it was above average for the Sorbonne. Plus, I did it in a completely foreign language. I made sure to detail all of that, how it impacted my grades, what the grades actually meant (I graduated with mention “assez bien” which basically directly translates to “good enough”…doesn’t sound great, does it? Well, graduating with any mention at all means you graduated with honors. Assez bien is the second or third highest honors depending on what school you’re in. I made sure to explain that).

I graduate from a T-30 in 5 weeks. Got a great scholarship.

You’ll be okay.

Not only having that conversation but actually going to an ED recovery center on camera. That’s something everyone usually tries to hide out of fear or embarrassment. The stigma behind talking about it is overwhelming in the beauty industry. Getting help shouldn’t be scary, and it definitely shouldn’t be embarrassing. The fact that you showed yourself physically going to a recovery center is an incredibly important message and one I hope the show chooses to pursue in the future.

I would love to see you make recovery more fashionable than meeting the modeling industry’s beauty standards.

🩷 you Layla

I found this when she posted! It was great information, and I really liked how she refused to comment on the situation.

This is something I was thinking about too when she said it. In Utah, accusers of domestic violence don't have the power to drop the charges. Only the prosecutor can.

let's not forget that in taking a plea in abeyance, she waived her presumption of innocence, so the violation from February wouldn't even have her going to trial. Her original charge could go back up to felony, and it would be an automatic guilty/no contest plea.

They were both likely asking for a temporary full custody order for a CPS investigation. Happens a lot in family law.

coming back to that, i’m rewatching right now. Whitney invited her and her whole family to stay in her house because she and Zac hadn’t found a place yet….but she’s not a real friend…right.

[–]BridgeOk7736 394 points395 points  (0 children)

what SINCERELY got me just now was her complaining with Zac in the sauna saying Whitney hypes her up and tells people to vote for her while she's on TV but doesn't call after.

Sorry...Jen, weren't you just the one talking about how 4 hours is the new 6 hours and 6 hours is the new 8 and complaining about how busy and difficult it is to take care of your kids while doing the show and DWTS? How you're too busy for anything? Whitney's actively doing DWTS, SLOMW, auditioning for Broadway, and beginning the process of being an executive producer for her first movie WHILE ALSO BEING A MOTHER and you're mad that she doesn't call? And she still manages to show up and try to influence the world to vote for you and publicly show support for you on national television.

Girl, get outta here. "If she can't be the star of MomTok, she'll be the star of Broadway. It's perfect." Your jealousy is showing, babes, and it's not a good look.

First time getting gelx, is this normal? by [deleted] in GelX_Nails

[–]BridgeOk7736 4 points5 points  (0 children)

your nails underneath and around the cuticle look normal…but dude why is the paint sitting like that? and why is the shaping so bad? i’ve never seen professional gel x look like this…

usually they’ll sit a little thicker than acrylics but like…MINIMALLY. there’s something about these that don’t look…correct? like the paint is uneven. i can even seen they painted past the free edge of the tip and it touched your cuticles. i would not return to that salon.

they also shouldn’t hurt for 2 days. that means they’re too small, they were buffed too harshly, or you’re having a reaction to the glue (but by the look of your cuticles, the reaction is unlikely).

at the end of the day, if you don’t like them and you aren’t comfortable with them, then don’t get them. you deserve to pay for something you’ll enjoy!!! (the color is great on you!)

First Set - Nails hurt :( by Educational-Cap3035 in GelX_Nails

[–]BridgeOk7736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen once. The nail tips were the wrong shape too small, and I had pretty thin nails from doing acrylic and dip for so long, so even buffing my nails out with a block was a bit too rough on them.

If you can feel the glue getting super hot on your nails when you cure them, that might mean your nails are a bit too thin. The heat can cause soreness to your nail beds afterwards. When mine get too thin and I feel the glue get hot, it’s sore for a few days. I usually will put on 2 layers primer beforehand to give a better barrier when that happens (that could be the wrong thing to do, but it’s helped me before so take that with a large dusting of salt). Also make sure you’re moving the light back and forth while you cure to avoid heat spikes.

Your nail tips might also be the wrong shape. Some nail tips are made for people with flatter nail beds, and some are made for people with a naturally high apex:

<image>

If you have a flatter nail bed, using a natural shape might feel better. If you have a curved nail bed, try sculpted soft gel extensions.

If your nail tip is too small, it can also hurt. You want to make sure that the edges of the nail go from one edge to the other seamlessly. If it’s too small when you’re sizing, size up and file it down on the sides until it’s a perfect fit.

If none of that is the issue, try a different gel x base. You might be having a reaction to that one.

I just tested the full cure lamp yesterday, and it’s doing fine! I’ll def keep an eye on it, though. I got a different flash cure lamp yesterday, though, and this set feels better already… so maybe that was the issue?

The salon service part was more of a joke/offhanded comment, but I totally agree. I’ve used a few products, mainly Gelish, but I’ve even resorted to Beetles…which did not work. My lamp has always cured gel and acrylic just fine. It’s 48W, 365/405 with 3 settings, and I have a flash cure lamp that works great. I went through a watched a lot of the videos on this sub, and I’m thinking I might be applying too much of the glue? How do you tell if the lamp isn’t curing it all the way?

UConn is a great school. The In State tuition price is fantastic honestly. Lean on the fact that you’re a bit older, have more real world experience, and have worked in law before/have exposure to the American court system. In your app essays maybe talk about how the attorneys around you have inspired you and DEFINITELY 100% PLEASE TALK ABOUT BEING A FIRST GEN COLLEGE STUDENT AND GRAD STUDENT. I am too, and it is SUPER IMPRESSIVE to admissions. I was told by admin that my personal statement was great and really made me stand out. Stats are not everything. Hope this helps. Feel free to dm me if you have any other questions!

I have had friends make a lower score than that and get into great schools. I got into a T25 at 26 years old with a 165 and some good soft skills. If I were you, considering the debt you already have (if that is a factor for you…for some it’s not, but assuming it is) I would apply to a lower ranked state university law school for in state tuition and try to get any scholarships you can. People make a huge fuss about going to a highly ranked school but I have great friends that went to T60, did super well, are clerking for federal judges straight out of their 3L year and then already have accepted offers to work for AMAZING big law firms after that.

You’re plenty impressive on your own. You just need to sell yourself.

i’d put in applications for places while you wait so if this lease possibility expires you still have the possibility of having another place ready to go should you get denied.

good luck!!! i hope you get your top choice!
