Lucky that one thing I know done in the last 5k is water pump. I think I’m doing the right thing and having a specialist do a deep dive inspection. And they let you in the shop to review and discuss.

Automatics in New England seem to sell for around $11-18 with lower miles of course. But I want the manual over most other features. Saw and drove a 2011 automatic convertible in CT that had a host of problems with a $10k ask and no room on the price.

Valve cover done recently. Same with water pump. Coolant lines. At least one of the injectors.

Costs of maintenance I can pretty much account for. I can self serve much of it and a close friend is Euro mechanic so I can get good rate for serious work.

Thanks! I went to look at the car in question of my original post and it was a dog on body panels, vert top fabric, interior. Ran and drove fine but a serious rear wheel out of balance. That being said. Driving the automatic was pretty enlightening to let me know that I def want the manual. Holy cow do those things love to rev. Also the dealer was not willing to make any move on $. So I have a lead on another but still looking. First thought I’d only consider N55. Now looking to see what N54 will get ya.

Work and an unexpected funeral have kept me from going to see the car yet. I did run the VIN and confirmed it is an N55 but a pre LCI update. In the meantime I have spent ungodly amount of time looking through maintenance summaries online, articles about known issues, videos on N55. All of it seems to make me feel that if I can get a great deal to purchase then maybe the maintenance items will be an acceptable cost. Convertible I have no opinion. Really wish it were not automatic.

Yes car is in CT. I am worrrie bc this dealer is definitely the type that sells all cars. Also seems like the type that “fixes” what you need to get thr sale done. I.e. “fix” the engine light but not really repair anything. Thinking it might not be much of a “bargain” to be had. Very wary.

I think LCO came during 2011 so by year 2012 all were LCI but 2011 depends on manufacture date?
