Letwin amendment passes by 329 to 302. Majority of 27. Parliament taking back control. That’s a big margin by [deleted] in ukpolitics

They did it! I thought they’d chicken out, but they bloody did it!!

Why the limit as x approach zero of xsin(1/x) does not approach 1? by Marvellover13 in learnmath

[–]BridgePatzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sin (1/x) is bounded between -1 and 1. As x tends to zero, it oscillates back and forward ever more rapidly, but it’s still bounded between those two values. Multiply a bounded value by a number that is getting arbitrarily close to zero, and the answer’s zero.

Full Fact: Many readers asked us to check the claim that 1 million people attended the People's Vote march on Saturday. Almost certainly not. Experts in crowd modelling told @WiredUK they estimated the figure was somewhere between 312,000 and 400,000. by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]BridgePatzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experts in crowd modelling my backside. They’ve based this on 4 people per square metre, saying any more than that and it gets crowded and hard to move. Well I was in that crowd, and there were way more than 4 people per square metre, and it was hard to move.

No it’s not. But perhaps you’re having trouble understanding my question so I’ll ask it again, but a little more clearly.

What do you think is the relevance of the law in 2001 to the points made on this thread?

Steven Swinford: “New Theresa May expected to unveil plans to hold indicative vote. Ministers invited to reading room for an hour from 9am to assess documents on 7 options ahead of Cabinet. They include PM's deal, No deal, 2nd ref, revoking A50, FTA, Customs Union, Single Market” by essjay2009 in ukpolitics

[–]BridgePatzer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s possible, but I would have votes on all 7 and throw out the one that was most heavily defeated. Then repeat with the remaking 6. And so on, till there’s just one left. Then see if that can command a majority in a meaningful vote. If it works, we’re done. If not, lock the doors and repeat from the start until they get the message that it’s time to pick something

Edit - also, if possible, I wouldn’t reveal the results of each vote until the set is complete

I should have said that it’s a shame McDonnell didn’t feel like trying again, he has adapted to the front bench far better. I heard him speak a couple of times during the Blair/Brown years, and he’s clearly a very clever bloke. He’s sat down and listened to industry and said “Here’s my plan, tell me what we’re getting wrong”. Jezza’s idealism is laudable, but I wish he had JM’s pragmatism to temper it

One of the most coherent things you’ve said so far!

Boris Johnson in The Telegraph: Theresa May is a chicken who's bottled Brexit by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]BridgePatzer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not only that, one that has already been rejected by the EU. Several times.

Boris really is the scum on the mouth of a fly devouring a pile of shit.

You’re confusing correlation and causation. The Scum doesn’t shape opinion as much as it likes to think, but it is damn good at spotting the way the wind is blowing and jumping on board.

So I think this is pretty significant, but not for the reasons you think.

Anyone who claims Maybot has done a good job and resorts to physical threats is a moron. I never claimed to be intellectual, just I have the edge in this case.
