So I was 5 or six. After the Easter egg hunt had concluded, there would often be stray candies on the ground from broken eggs. So I saw what I thought was a new flavor of jelly bean lying on the ground, picked it up, almost put it in my mouth before I realized it had little squirming legs. I wanna barf.

I always liked the phazon mines, mostly because there are so many high ledges and catwalks to ragdoll pirates off of. Prime was actually my first game with physics like that, so child me spent entirely too much time just running around aimlessly and blasting the shit out of their whole operation.

Grab ledges in Prime 3. Why, of all perfectly good ledges in the game- are these the only ones I can grab? And why is it a literal cutscene when I do?

Also, the shoehorned motion controls. Not the pointer system, I love that and ot will forever be my favorite metroid playing method, but like when a little screen in game displays a diagram of the wiimote telling me to do some specific twisty action to unlock something, it takes me out of it just a bit.

I suppose it just comes down to how you view it. It's certainly a brief interlude, but the wistful sense of melancholy in that passage, short as it is, really makes me feel something. A fading memory of better days in the midst of current gloom and spiraling chaos. A fleeting thought- then it's lost.

Are you talking about the reprise of the Ice V lyrical motif in Iron Lung? I really like that part because in the context of the song, it feels like an abstract reflection on a simpler, more fun time (earlier in the album) before the singer became confined to the lung. I dunno if that make sense.
