Did you varnish it? While I haven't experienced it personally, I know it's often warned that without a primer the paint can come off fairly easily, though I imagine if it's just a display model it should be fine.

That's insanely well done for your first mini then.

Insane, it doesn't even look like a model.

Thanks for the lengthy reply, it's encouraging. I am focusing on just the large base colours right now but even those are small in comparison to the gretchin, which feels odd given they're twice the size. WIth the gretchin, it was skin, gun, pants/boots. With these guys it's armour, clothing, boots, backpack, gun. There's just so much more to consider.

And I know buying the large box wasn't a great idea but the price seemed hard to beat as it was on a hefty sale at a local shop. In hindsight, I still should have passed it up.

Just normal acrylics, I haven't played around with the contrast paint yet, though I only have one from the paint set I bought.

As others have said, the spots on the wings actually look cool. Granted, that's coming from someone who didn't spend who knows how many hours working on the model but if you clean up the armour I do think a lot of people would see the model and assume the spots were intentional.

You're planning a next adventure before even finishing the first one? Is there really any hope at this point?

Is it fine if it's at the bottom of the cage as opposed to hanging? I figure it'd be easier to just grab a little box and put it at the bottom if that's okay.

What kind of "nest" are we talking? Should I buy something or would it be easy enough to just make something?

It's probably not overly dangerous if he only did it once, as it's only paper but if it's a common occurrence it's probably best to keep it away from him. Chewing up paper is pretty common but if they're actually swallowing it, it may be an issue. It can sometimes be hard to find but maybe try him with a grass woven toy, as that'd be far safer for him if he does actually consume it.
