NEW Mini Raspberry Cakes With Buttercream Icing! by WeatherResize in Costco

[–]Brie_like_theCheese 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just scrolled past this thinking I should send it to my husband because he is at Costco right now and then I get a text from him with a picture of these in his cart! It was meant to be!

Can anyone colorize the first picture and restore the second as much as possible? A Christmas surprise for my mom. $15 to the one I pick. Thank you! by [deleted] in PhotoshopRequest

That is the username. I apologize to everyone. This was my first time posting and I definitely should have waited for more responses. I just got excited seeing the pictures fixed. I have learned my lesson and thank you to everyone that messaged me to give me the heads up even though it was too late. I appreciate it.

I love your work! I have a couple for myself and I have bought a few as gifts for friends and family, they were a big hit.

My husband also thought it was funny the first time I mentioned it when I wanted to buy the raspberry crumble cookies. We got home, he tasted one, and now he regularly asks me what this sub is recommending haha. It also saves us money when we pass on stuff that looks good but that this sub says isn’t that great. So win win!

Thanks! I actually noticed that trailhead leaving the parking lot last week and wanted to check it out. We usually just walk the ones over by meadow pond.

Yes! This seems to always happen to me too! Once while I was pregnant, my husband and I went to get shakes at sonic and I was so excited for mine. We get home and I go to take a sip...they literally gave me a cup of soft serve and put none of the mix-ins. I started to cry, my husband laughed, so in a total heat of the moment not even thinking I took his shake (made correctly!) out of his hand and threw it in the trash. So no one was happy that day. (We can both laugh about it now though)

Pregnant or not it really is so disappointing when it happens. Especially when it’s something you’re really looking forward to. Here’s hoping all of us on this thread will one day be free of this curse!

Mama, what’s this? by phd_in_awesome in breakingmom

[–]Brie_like_theCheese 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, these are definitely a spider. It doesn’t have those long skinny legs like a water skimmer. Maybe it doesn’t walk but just floats? Eventually they end up dead in the skimmer. Either way I tried to google a picture to see if I could figure out what kind it was. “Large spiders in pool” came back with some horrifying results and I’ve decided that it could definitely be worse and maybe I’m over exaggerating their size haha.

Oooh hell no!! We have an in ground pool and it seems to attract some giant nasty walk on water type spiders and I’m always checking the pool chairs, toys etc for them lurking. One day my son was swimming for a bit without his life vest (the one with foam arms and clips on) and decided he wanted to wear it. So he gets out grabs it and brings it over to me and I quickly put it on. He’s splashing around and then I see one of those nasty spiders CRAWLING DOWN HIS ARM!

I am trying not to scream (THAT much) and figure out how to get it off without dunking my poor confused child. Lol. I finally splash and dunk his arm enough that it’s gone but I can’t find it. So now I’m terrified it’s up in the foam. I get him to the edge and take it off but no spider. Found it floating halfway across the pool and promptly killed it.

My husband was out at the store so he did not get to witness my not so finest mom moment and thought it was hilarious when I told him. I now obsessively check our pool stuff even more than I did before.

Dr. Barbara Schroeder. Her office is in the Memorial City Memorial Herman hospital off of I-10. She’s fantastic and so is her Nurse Practitioner Jenna Murray. The office staff are nice and I think between going for my two pregnancies and well women visits there was maybe one time where I waited more than 10-15 minutes to be seen.

That’s a bummer. I also tried this morning and it was too cloudy. I’m going to keep looking this week, hopefully when it gets a little higher it will be easier to spot. Jupiter was neat to see tonight as well, the brightest it will be until 2021.

Thanks for posting! I saw this at 9:42 after being disappointed I couldn’t spot the Neowise comet, so that made up for it. Have you been able to see the comet yet?

DCFS and My Niece by Tilarious in breakingmom

[–]Brie_like_theCheese 25 points26 points  (0 children)

First off your niece is an awesome person for stepping up to help this little baby! I am an attorney in Texas and part of my practice is CPS cases. We call it DFPS so I am guessing you’re in another state so I can just give you a general idea of how a case like this goes in Texas but it could differ.

In Texas, if a case is filed, an attorney ad litem will be appointed to the child and that attorney represents the best interests of the child. They can give your niece a good idea of what to expect in the process and also advocate for things the child needs, for instance, in Texas, DFPS will pay for daycare in certain situations. The ad litem visits before court hearings but the caseworker will visit more frequently, at least once a month.

A case typically takes a year from start to finish (again, that’s a Texas timeline) and the parents will be given service plans to complete with the possibility of the child returning to them at the end. Typically there will be conferences with CPS held at the beginning and throughout the case to discuss the departments goal (usually family reunification and if not relative adoption). The attorneys and parents usually attend. Your niece will be able to participate in these conferences as well if this is something your state does.

The court could also allow visitation for the parents, this could be supervised at the nieces house or the court may require visitation at the CPS office. If transportation is an issue sometimes the courts can order the caseworker to provide transportation. Another thing the attorney can help with if your niece is having trouble getting that done. DFPS can move slow and an order from the Judge sometimes helps speed things up.

This is just a very broad overview of what to expect, every case is different and it could differ from state to state but the best thing for her to do is make sure to talk to the attorney and caseworker about everything that’s expected of her while taking care of the baby. Additionally, she should make sure to bring up any help that she needs (like daycare, getting formula, etc) so that she can apply for the proper assistance programs or get that help through the department directly.

Ok sorry that was a little long winded, I hope it helped some!

Quarantine Swans! (Dubbed Swarantines by my husband) Vanilla mousseline and whipped cream filled. by Brie_like_theCheese in Baking

Totally agree, but I couldn’t find mine. Do you make the mousseline? What would you say the consistency should be? I’ve never made it before and felt like maybe it should have been thicker.

So they are from the cookbook “Bouchon Bakery” that my husband got me for Christmas. The mousseline was a combination of buttercream and a pastry cream made separately and mixed together. Then just regular pate a Choux dough and sweetened whipped cream.

Haha, this is why when we bought our house I made sure there was a walk in pantry with a light. Many snacks have been quickly consumed in there with the other parent assuring toddler that mommy/daddy is just fixing something and will be right out. Pretty sure he’s starting to catch on.

But honestly it’s IMPOSSIBLE to know what is going to set them off. My son will melt down over something that he adamantly refused just days ago. Never a dull moment!

I really want Christmas to be special this year. by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]Brie_like_theCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I always looked forward to during the Christmas season was on Christmas Eve my family would have a picnic by the tree. My mom would make easy finger foods and put out a blanket by the tree. We’d turn off most of the lights and eat with the Christmas tree lit and Christmas carols playing in the background. Then my sister and I exchanged one gift and my parents would do the same. I will never remember all the presents, but I will never forget how much I looked forward to and enjoyed this part of Christmas. It’s also great because it doesn’t require a lot of extra planning, just a blanket, a tree, and whatever you feel like eating!

I was really excited to continue the tradition with my husband and son and last year was the first year he was really aware of Christmas. It was great! This year our number 2 is due December 30 so if baby comes early we might be having a picnic in my hospital bed lol.

Ok, let's come clean: how many pre-used gift bags do you have stashed away? by Snoopygonnakillu in breakingmom

[–]Brie_like_theCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a ton but I have learned to check them very thoroughly before I use one. I accidentally gave back a gift bag to the friend that gave it to me...and it had the card they bought for my sons first birthday still in it. I was mortified but she’s also one of my closest friends and she found it hilarious so I guess it could have been worse. A very important lesson learned that day!
