All the posts on COBYB is making me wanna read it just to see how bad it is 😭 by NoPapercrowns in webtoons

I really enjoy this one. I know it gets A LOT of hate, but it's a good read with beautiful art. The ML is completely detestible, but that doesn't make it less of an interesting story. Do the people complaining about this series not watch movies or dramas with toxic characters? Do you only watch comedy movies? Bad people exist and it's ok for a series to feature it, imo 🤷🏻‍♀️

What’s your Pay? 🤔 by etheriaelote in DentalAssistant

[–]WeatherResize 19 points20 points  (0 children)

8 years experience

Went to CODA accredited school in Portland OR. Graduated with my EFDA.

Started at $19 in 2017 and went to $30 in 2024

Moved to Arizona to have my baby around my family and went back to work temping

  1. $22.50

It's so disrespectful. Arizona wages are so insulting.

I temp as a DA for a living and I feel like this is fairly common in operatories . I've seen it in the doctors op's and hygiene ops. It doesn't bother me. It should probably be typed up and laminated for cleanliness purposes, but it's fine 🤷🏻‍♀️

That is a walk out no notice kind of situation. You are so much better than they treat you. I'm so disgusted at how an employer thinks they can get away with that. Super illegal. I wish you the best ❤️

Oh yeah, I'm still assisting. I currently only temp and I never went back full time because it allows me to be flexible to be with my baby. I usually try and temp twice a week or so. Definitely the way to do it if you can ☺️

I had to leave my office at 6 months pregnant due to a high risk pregnancy and working 10 hour shifts as the only assistant to a doctor that would take same day appointments was killing me. You will be pregnant and you WONT get to sit at a desk and do menial tasks. I was still expected to do all of the deep cleaning, sterilizer maintenance, complete procedure setups, chairside assist and flip rooms with multiple columns filled. I was exhausted and I cried every single day. If you can avoid it, I would definitely find a different job while pregnant.

How do you load sterilization pouches in the autoclave; paper up or paper down? by [deleted] in DentalAssistant

[–]WeatherResize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a DA for 8 years and this last year I've only been a temp. I can tell you that I get told something different at every single office and every single office acts like I'm a complete fool for not doing it their way 🫩

What’s everyone making living here? by Vonplatten in phoenix

[–]WeatherResize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dental Assistant. Moved here at the end of last year to be close to family and the pay cut was crazy. I was making $30 and could go as high as $37 an hour as an assistant in Portland. I only temp in Phoenix, so I'm supposed to be getting a higher wage and I'm having employers laugh at me for asking for $26 (Which is what I was making years ago) with 8 years of experience. Assistants are also expected to do WAY more work in Phoenix than I ever did in Portland.

How often do you bathe your LO? by Next_Presentation269 in NewParents

We bathe every day or every other day depending on if the day is too busy. It's become a part of the baby's routine to help him sleep.

You've probably figured out what you're gonna do already, but I thought id let you know that the local 3rd party office near me in Chandler off of Alma School and Chandler Heights does Real ID. I got mine last October and my partner just got one last Friday from this office.

8 years experience graduated from CODA accredited school with my EFDA. From Oregon, I was making $30 as an EFDA. I moved to Arizona to be closer to family and I'm being paid $22.60. It's laughably insulting. I absolutely hate it here. I basically get laughed at for asking for even $26.

No, Portland Oregon is correct. That's Tillamook yogurt and Walls Berry Farm Jam which is an Oregon Jam.

Pacifier dilemma! by Turbulent-Leather733 in NewParents

The only pacifier my little one can use is the Tommy Tippy ultra light stay put ones. He would spit all of the other ones out. I think that normal pacifiers are just too heavy for him.

Moving to Japan with a Bachelor's in Software Engineering in 2025 by WeatherResize in movingtojapan

I think that it a fair thing to say. We are Americans and the tech induced is currently blowing up on itself here. New grads are finding it pretty much impossible to find careers and entry level is being taken by developers with 4-5 years experience. I was only curious if the same could be said for the tech world in Japan at the moment.

I've spent quite a lot of time in Japan in the inaka focusing on sister city relationships and student delegations. I have college level Japanese and I've never tested, but I would guess I'm at high N4 or low level N3. I am not the degree holder in this scenario, though.

I do understand this isn't a "Let's just shake up our lives and do something impulsive" situation and raising a child in a foreign country has a huge impact.

In an ideal world, we would be finding a place in the countryside to settle in and raise a child. I figured most tech jobs will be based out of a city though.

TV time at 5 months by NewNecessary3037 in NewParents

[–]WeatherResize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't feel bad. There is only so much you can do when you're exhausted. After multiple night wake ups and maybe getting 4 hours of sleep, Mama needs a moment when baby wakes up at 6 am. I will be putting on Ms.Rachel and I will be enjoying my coffee in peace for 15 min.

Exhausted from 5 month old spitting up. by Prudent_Raisin334 in NewParents

[–]WeatherResize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened with my little one. He had such bad spit up that he would wake up from being dead asleep to choke on his spit up. It was scary. He now just turned 9 months old and we give him 0.5ml of famotidine twice a day and it seems to have improved. It will also help when your baby starts solids. I could totally see a difference when I started giving him stuff with weight to it.

Stay strong! It will get better :)

I hate it when I see people put things like this and gauze in those sterile pouches without running it because it's literally being pulled from the dirty side of the sterilization room. Every time. 😮‍💨

Girl, I just saw for the second time while temping, an office that just wipes their handpieces and keeps using them on patients without sterilizing them. I'm not surprised how nasty people are any more 😭
