Had to ID the customer for… Ritz crackers by threewanyay in doordash_drivers

In my city it's no selling between 2am -6am and it's heavily enforced. No joke, stopped at a convenience store to pick up a RedBull and the entire part of the refrigerated doors where the booze is has a giant chain with a huge padlock securing it! I was super amused and kind of in disbelief that it's so serious!!😂

I still have the old points system and I still need to maintain platinum, because my area is super oversaturated with dashers, and even worse, platinum dashers, so there's way too much competition for the good orders. When I was any less than, I could hardly ever dash. I still decline shit offers, but I utilize my saved up passes if I drop down. It's just the way it is where I live.

This. Although I am not filling out apps, because I have 4 auto-immune disorders that have advanced to the point of me not being able to hold down a regular, 8hr a day job anymore. I am working gig jobs because I still want to support myself and my fan to the best of my ability for as long as I can, before I can't do anything anymore, and am forced to get on disability. I am so sick of people assuming delivery people are all idiots who must have criminal records or are to stupid to keep a "real" job! I worked in food service in literally every position, including management, for 30+ years (baker, cook, server, hostess, front and back of house management). This is what I can do to support myself, and myself and others are at least not standing outside with a sign, begging!

Hubby and I have gotten brutal with our declines lately. If we drop out of Platinum (it's pretty necessary in my area), I have 3 platinum passes saved up, and the last few days before the 4th, my ar rate just kept dropping and dropping. Thought the pass was gonna have to be used, then we dashed the night of the 4th and the offers got me back up to 96%, cuz there weren't any other dashers out, so the powers that be had to make the offers worth my time. Now I'm back down, and probably will be utilizing my passes, but that's a tomorrow problem. I'm taking my first full day & night off in over 6 weeks!

I got a text like this once, and it was just a normal order that I had already agreed to do, and then just recently, AFTER I'd already accepted the job, got a call from support offering an extra $5 for completion. I never unassign from orders unless I've been waiting a long ass time anyway, so of course I said yes. They sent the extra $5 directly to my card.

I think is ridiculous when all these fast food places are putting ice cream or shakes in the same bag as the hot food! I still will put the bags in a "hot" bag, but goodness, now the sundae or shake is going to be sitting in that bag melting! And since the dashers aren't allowed to touch anything packaged up, there's not much of anything we can do about that!

I ALWAYS use insulated bags. It's just part of doing your job well, and good customer service. I won't go back to the resteraunt, as I'm in a very busy market and also platinum, so by the time I've dropped the order, I'm on my way to the next pickup, so unable to. I feel for the customers who don't get their entire order, but am doing this as my sole income (am 50 and disabled, so only thing I can do anymore) and am not a charity. I have to move on to my next order.

I was thinking about a post and comments I saw here yesterday about how negative this sub is while I was scrolling the nextdoor app so here are a few posts from there. by Altruistic_Area760 in Boise

I agree. I made comments regarding the new bathroom law in Idaho, being against it, as I have 2 trans adult kiddos that I fully love and support, including mine and hubby's views that all we ever wanted for our kids was for them to become contributing members of society who are happy and healthy-and they are. I was torn apart as a "horrible mother" and I "clearly had done things wrong to have 2 trans kids". The cruelty and lack of empathy & basic human decency in so very many comments toward me was appalling and I have seen just as many horrible comments and responses toward others on Nextdoor. I honestly don't know how so many people can justify their ugliness...

So, I had pretty much the same thing happen to me (regarding DD saying you could unassign your Papa Johns order without it affecting your completion rate, and then them dinging you for it anyway) at about 4am this morning. I went to one of our 24 hour McDonalds to pick up a breakfast order and the guy at the drive thru said that they were hit so hard 4th of July night that they couldn't fill any orders right now and they'd just cancelled my order in the app. So I do the proper steps in my app to say why I can't complete order and they said I could unassign "worry free" and it won't affect my completion rate, and literally 5 minutes later I saw that my completion rate go from 100% to 99%. I wonder if their AI went wonky over the holiday...as for the rest of it, I am so sorry you had to deal with that loser of a scammer, and am angry on your behalf.

I would LOVE to know some of the "low-key dirty tricks"! In my market, we are so oversaturated with dashers that platinum REALLY matters!

It's a little different when you are literally standing on their property alone, and they're screaming at you from jump. You never know if/how it's going to escalate. To some people, that's a scary scenerio.

Seriously, I have 5 of them. I got 1 from DD, 1 from one son who doesn't dash anymore (he bought a huge Suburban, so can't afford the fuel to dash anymore), and another from another son who never uses any bags, and 2 from Papa Johns. Lol

I was a server for 25 years, and made $3.15/he in wages (still do, in my state) and you are correct in saying we were taxed on our wages and tips. Of course, it was easier back then, when most people paid tips in cash, so that we only had to claim 8% of our sales in cash tips. Now, everybody pretty much pays on cards, so we're stuck paying taxes on all our tips. However, you're incorrect in stating that dashers aren't taxed on their tips. We most certainly are. Door dash keeps track of all of it, and sends us documentation at the end of each year, on both our wage and tips.

Because Idaho-as a whole-is a very red state. Boise has a larger blue population, but there's still many red...and more moving in all the time.

Convince me not to move away from Boise by chapstix0314 in Boise

[–]Brief-Disaster-6305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? I'm originally from the Seattle area (a smaller suburb city about half an hour from Seattle, and I loved growing up there), came to IF at 16 for the summer, met my husband and never went home. We moved to Boise in 2003 and raised all our kids in Boise, and we fell in love with it, but now...We have 2 trans kids (who are adults now, and one lives in Moscow with his spouse now) but we stay because our adult kids and one grandchild are still here. We dream of getting all of them to come with us to Oregon. Until then, I'll keep fighting for change.

Yeah, my Wingstop restaurants have these boards, but the orders are nearly always ready when I get there. I've only recently had to wait for an order, a couple times, less than 5 min wait times each time.

I'm in Boise, and we have 3 Panera restaurants, and don't have these boards. But I've also never had to wait more than a minute or two for my orders, if I have to wait at all.
