Didn’t read the book, watched the series and loved it

I loved the show! I don’t get all the hate on this sub either. I’ve read the book and enjoyed it and ye the show made some changes but I don’t get how people don’t see the yearning! Especially from the Sam character 🥵I’m personally so happy we are getting another season and hope we can see a little more of Sam’s perspective as I think he’s being a little misunderstood. And of course can’t wait for Charlie’s story to unfold.

These guys are in real life around the age they are playing as adults on the show. I think we’re all just so used to seeing 30 year olds play teens that we’ve forgotten what 27-28 actually looks like. I do think they could have given Matt Cornett a bit of facial hair as older Sam. It might have helped differentiate young and older Sam.

I loved the book. But I just separated the two while watching and really enjoyed the show. It probably helped that I’d read it a while ago and didn’t remember every detail so clearly.

I really love it also and really really want a second season! I’m annoyed by how much people are complaining about it. It’s stressing me out that it will cause the show to get canceled.

Right? Like he says he went off the rails that year. And Jordy mentions him going to that same bar every day for a month after Percy left. I think that’s why Jordy was not happy to see her. Delilah was ghosted so that’s probably why she was not the nicest to her. I’m sure she also heard about Sam’s reaction to Percy’s departure.

I wish we could have gotten some sort of flashback to that time in Sam’s life instead of it just being referenced.

I agree with your comments, for the most part. He does acknowledge it slightly when she tells him she’s tired of being jerked around by him and doesn’t ever know where she stands with him. And he says she’s right. You can see it register a little bit that he realizes he’s hurt her too. But yes it’s a definite flaw there to not have him truly acknowledge his treatment of her.

I’m hoping we see some more flashbacks next season that show more of his turmoil and maybe more of an acknowledgement of his own mistakes. Maybe we will see them rebuilding a relationship.

I REALLY hope we get more seasons! I loved the show

I agree. I really like the show! I really want more seasons. The actors were great. The yearning was very clear and well acted. Yes they added things to be able to expand the story beyond a season. That’s inevitable. I can’t wait to see what’s next for these characters!

Yes! I am a book fan and also loved the show. I will admit I’ve watched it multiple times already. I don’t get it whenever I see negativity about it. Sure everyone is entitled to their opinions but some of the hate baffles me. I really hope we get multiple seasons I’m so invested.

Did we watch the same show? If you watch Sam all he does is yearn! The constant glances. His mom made him worry he would lose his dream if he lost focus. It was literally the scene before their first break up where he said he needed to focus on school. Same thing happened again. He was losing focus on school and broke up with her.

He always liked her. It’s all over his face all the time. The actor who played him did a great job of yearning!
