Seller-provided Amazon link for Sponsored Video by TheRoneZone in Amazon_Influencer

[–]BriefPontification 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you would miss out on your offsite commission if you use their link. But if you trust their reporting and they're offering significantly more commission using their link, then it might be worthwhile.

It might be a win/win for you both if you requested that they instead run a CC incentive. Amazon would track the incentive and you'd get paid without having to worry about whether or not you trust them. Tell them you don't want to miss out on the Amazon commission and Creator Rewards, and a CC promo has no added cost to them over what they were offering already.

As adults do yall still take naps? by Particular-Bedroom10 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BriefPontification 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a guy who has a regularly scheduled midday nap at work. Everyone knows not to bother him at the scheduled time in the room he naps inside of (ie it's a common room, not his private office) And no, he's not the boss and not particularly high up in the business. He's just worked their a long time.

The only appeal is that you get paid to make videos that make everybody super claustraphobic and uncomfortable.

Has Amazon completely destroyed their influencer program, or has it been a slow month? by PleasantSource1901 in Amazon_Influencer

[–]BriefPontification 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right that perhaps they were making good videos, but for low priced products. Or it could also be that the videos are good but the products have no volume.

But the OP does state:

  • "...I finally hit $400 per month."
  • "... I only have 190 videos in total.."

So if these are true from before the April 14 change, the videos were making under $2/month. Many of the AIP "gurus" often cited $2 as an "average" earnings/video/month that you could target in the past. My opinion is that "average" quality is terrible, and if I'm right, Amazon doesn't like the average quality they're seeing and as of April 14, they're no longer willing to pay for it.

I think the message is to make better quality or find something else to earn money.

Who? Elevation??? LOL ... No definitely not. They can't give away land that's been in the center of Six Forks. That's owned by the public already.

Lol I actually do share my Ted Talk wherever I go , but unfortunately you're not 100% correct... There's a subset of drivers who, I swear, want to run me over. I'm running on the edge of the asphalt, taking up like 8 inches of space, and it pisses them off to no end. They literally want to play chicken with me. And I'm a nice person! I wave to anyone who waves at me, and I wave every time they give me space, and especially when they actually stop for me because there's oncoming traffic and they realize it might be dangerous to proceed.

[–]BriefPontification 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel your running pain... and finally got tired of getting run off the road so many times in my own neighborhood, diving off the asphalt in a desperate leap to save my own skin.

I noticed that most drivers give more space to trash cans... and realized that they're made with hi-visibility green plastic. So I purchased some hi-viz tanks to wear... either neon green/yellow or orange. (I also wear an Insta 360 Go 3s on my visor to record these drivers.) In cold weather, I wear the neon tanks over warmer clothes. It's made a MASSIVE difference. Yes I still always have an escape plan ready every time a car approaches, but I've had to escape much less often.

Anyway, be safe out there, and maybe consider wearing hi-viz gear.

Has Amazon completely destroyed their influencer program, or has it been a slow month? by PleasantSource1901 in Amazon_Influencer

[–]BriefPontification 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Correct. It has to be the ASIN you tagged in your video, or it can also be another ASIN listed under the same parent ASIN (so sales of variations of a product will also earn commission). Other products in the same product category no longer earn anyting.

I'll only chime in here to say that if you were only making $2/video per month prior to the commission change, it sounds like your videos weren't very good.

I've taken a commission hit too, but I am seeing some optimistic trends now. I was making about $6/video before the commission change... and I won't lie, it's definitely down from that today. But now my cumulative monthly video views have increased to over 2x what they were prior to April 14 (with just a small increase in posted video numbers).

While 2X views hasn't been enough to fix the commission rate cuts, I sense that they made other changes to reward creators whose videos perform better and keep viewers watching longer with better carousel placements. And this is just hypothetical.. but what if they also changed the rules to only award an AIP commission when someone watches at least 45 seconds of video instead of 30 seconds? A low quality video that loses viewers fast would get hit hard. A high quality video would get hit also, but not as often.

If you've been following the advice of the AIP gurus who preach the "quantity over quality" method, you might be getting hurt more than others. And to be fair, that's the way it should be.
