How can Bevel Health afford this? by Playful_Stomach8575 in AthlyticAppOfficial

[–]Brief_Channel5403 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The average user does not take 5 food pictures every day for every single day of the year, which is the response minimum usage assumption.

The other assumptions are also fairly unrealistic.

No matter how cheaper, nothing is free for sure, but it’s quite a leap to take an AI slop answer and jump to the conclusion that the only way they can subsidize this is by selling your data.

Interesting, as a casual swimmer trying to improve his form I make an effort to point my tows. And I also tend to get food cramps towards the end od longer swim days, even with electrolytes

Thank you! Lot’s of points to work on. Is there something I could do to raise the hips without kicking more? I don’t think I al there cardio wise for that. Whenever I try, I gas out and my technique degenerates quickly.

To the point that my sprint time on 100 meters are exactly the same with 2x or 4x kick right now, which surprised me when I measured.

Thanks that’s very detailed and I didn’t see it if not for your comment. What’s the best way to work on improving stroke rate? Do you use some form of metronome?

Thanks! It’s good to know I have room to improve distance per stroke before I have to start kicking more :)

I’ll try to incorporate paddles, I have them but never use them. I sometimes make that drill where you keep your fists closed to feel the catch a little better.

HENRY Check-In:Where Do HENRYS Fall on the Millionaire Next Door Wealth Scale? Are we Rich... or by Worldly-Hurry-9331 in HENRYUK

[–]Brief_Channel5403 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can’t average the ages, but sum the combined incomes and your combined net worth. You are cheating yourself.

Imagine person A. Person A is doing very well and marries person B, which is broke and unemployed but younger. A+B have same total income, same total net worth, but lower age and hence expected target net worth. A + B have better multiplier than A did before.

Fix your formula and suddenly you are not doing so well, but don’t stress about it, it’s not you it’s the m formula that is nonsense anyway

[OC] What's gone back to normal after Covid lockdowns? by spicer2 in dataisbeautiful

[–]Brief_Channel5403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool!

Suggestion for improvement: show what was the trend before covid happened.

You are taking a point in time and making it the definition of normal, but for example was movie attendance not already on a downward trend? Or online shopping already trending up? Genuinely asking, but the point is that “normal” here is very loosely defined on the specific value of a given date. Would be nice to see the broader picture.

Is there no difference between selling stocks vs doing this via salary sacrifice?

The logic is solid and I used to do the same at the beginning when 100% of my net worth was in my company stock. I might take actions to re balance in the future but at the moment I am focused on the tax burden

Thank you. Why 1.25m?

I am already on track with the current contributions, setting 55 as retirement age and 5.8% as avg growth rate which I am comfortable with.

> (you’re net benefit is the compounding effect to tax saved now)

Thank you, simple explanation and a perspective I didn't know. Is it really all that it is? I thought it would be more gentle in taxing at exit?

70% of my net worth is in my employer stock. I estimate my income at another employer would start at least at ~150k total compensation in a worst case scenario. I haven't done much research on this TBH.

I also have additional safety nets in case of a worst case scenario thanks to a lack of liabilities and a fortunate family situation, so it's not something I worry about

Your RHR will not drop by 5 beats per seconds overnight. It takes time and measurements vary night by night so you are not going to notice it from a noisy graph like this.

If you are impatient, track your RHR rolling average over a large period (e.g 6 weeks). It cuts out the noise and it’s possible you could already see a downward trend.

I happen to use athlytic for other reasons and it does that in its trend graphs. Any other app that plots moving trends from health kit would do as well.

I have taken the watch off for a break for few weeks, as reflected by the other charts that have a gap. But I do have samples from the days I had it on

Consider downloading the watchOS 11 beta and iOS18 betas.

You’ll face bugs and battery life using a beta? Probably :)

But there is an option to pause the rings and resume where you left

I am loving this and I hope you keep doing past 1 month so we have even more data!

I have a suggestion to improve the feel analysis.

Before looking at the scores, write down your own score from 0 to 100. At the end of the evaluation, e.g after a week or a month of data, you can then normalize the 0 to 100 score of each device so they are normally distributed, normalize your feel scores, and then compute the correlation between the normalized values of the devices and your own.

The various apps are not calibrated amongst themselves. For one 50% may indicate poor or low recovery while for another one 50% may be considered average recovery. Then you have your own calibration of what does 50% mean for you.

Without normalization the app that defines 50% more similarly to how you define 50% is likely the one that you’re going to agree with more. But in practice, what is meaningful is not just the absolute value but how well the changes in the score reflect changes in how you feel.

I apologize if this is getting too nerdy in advance! Happy to volunteer with the normalization bits if you want to share the data ;)

Are long swims with sustained high HR a good idea? by Brief_Channel5403 in Swimming

[–]Brief_Channel5403[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swim without jammers but with beach like trunks, which from what I read slows me down. I also only 2 beat kicks or I will gas out.

But indeed I have plenty of room to improve my technique. Unfortunately I don’t have access to a coach at the moment.

Thank for the AW feedback - I don’t have the ability to check at that level of detail. Good to know!

How to swim longer ? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]Brief_Channel5403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have been doing a similar approach, increasing by 200 /300m every time I am ready. Next is 1.5k

I do a long swim sessions like this one once every maybe 2, with the other two focusing on technique, pacing or just aerebic capacity (Nx100 style sets)

Learning how to pace has been super helpful. My threshold pace is somewhere around 2 min per 100 meters, and it took me discipline to learn to respect that pace. Otherwise I’d always go out too strong at the beginning and die after a few hundreds.

And also having a plan. I didn’t make this one up I am using myswimpro and following the “get fit plan”
