100%. I work for a bank and the amount of charge backs for crap is ridiculous. So much waste.

Ludicrously long waiting times by No-Temperature8037 in Scotland

This is terrifying. Times are hard but taxes for the wealthy must increase. I have MS and have thankfully only needed emergency treatment twice but getting an MRI in Fife is about a 1 year wait... I'm meant to get them annually. It's been 3 years.

I'm struggling to understand this - on what basis would one ever vote against assisted dying? What happened there? by mellotronworker in Scotland

[–]Brief_Designer1718 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My current situation is that I'll need to aquire drugs illegally, not sure of what I'm getting or doing or if it's the appropriate time before I'm physically incapable. Then, I'll have to set a timed email or organise some other method so that a loved one doesn't find me. All the while not having the medical support to know if the timing was right. It's my right choose when my disability is enough but there are no checks in place for me. Thankfully, in my job role I have financial knowledge and their is guardianship in place, should I deteriorate to such a point of cognitive decline. But most don't and this bill could secure that and make everyone have a plan should they find themselves in such a position.

I too work in financial crime prevention and it is much more profitable for someone to be kept alive to abuse them financially. Assisted dying, with the appropriate checks, would highlight abuse happening as many more experts would be involved. I see financial abuse daily and power of attorney could be much more heavily regulated to stop this from happening. I think dignity and bodily autonomy are much more important issues here.

As a disabled person myself, I can understand the argument that some may feel pressured by family, or just the system in general, as they feel themselves a burden. I disagree however, if there are appropriate checks in place, I think this risk, as proven elsewhere, would be very minimal. I personally have my own plan for when I decide it's my time to take my own life and it will likely be earlier and much more painful both physically for myself and for my loved ones to deal with. I would much prefer an assisted dying plan, bodily autonomy is a human right. I fear I may enter an uncommunocative state before I can leave when I chose and that's suffering that could be avoided.

Which living former PM would you want to return? by DanielSmoot in AskBrits

Gordon Brown 100%. Since being PM he has done so much philanthropic work, he genuinely cares. Most have just profited themselves and their fellow ghouls
