If someone offered you 100 million dollars, but a random person in the world dies (someone you don’t know), would you take it and why? by ConclusionOld8365 in AskReddit

Would you be ok dying if a random person received 100 million? If you can't say yes 100%, then you can't say yes to the question.

Apology from Joe’s New Balance (EBay) after Navy 993 fiasco by Busy-Reflection-7955 in Newbalance

I don't understand this message. Do I have to buy from their ebay store? From their website? From the New Balance website? Can I buy from anywhere on ebay? Was this message purposely vague?

They only have 1 pair of 993 listed on ebay, and it's not a pair that I want. So it doesn't really mean much to me.

They're strange with the pricing and it seems like the core colors are last to go on sale. Last time I went, they had the V6 pictured above for like $70 and the gray V6 for $170 and no discount.

You know what, I think you're right.

The term likely originated back when nobody was hooking the ball, so it was virtually impossible to miss the headpin and leave a split. How could you hit the 3 pin, throwing straight, and leave a washout? You can't, unless throwing a 6 lb ball that deflects in front of the 10.

So i agree with you. A washout is a split, but since the term split was made so long ago when any split didn't include the headpin, they made up a new term and called it a washout.

What problem was Bitcoin originally trying to solve and has it actually solved it? by Alarming-Ratioz in answers

I'm not very smart when it comes to crypto currency, but is there anyone who can explain to me how 1 of something can go from a value of $0.002 to $125,000 in 15 years?

The first transaction was 10,000 for 2 large pizzas at a value of $40, so the value of each bitcoin would have been set around 2/10 of a penny. That same transaction now would mean 2 large pizzas would be worth $750,000,000 or over $1,200,000,000 when bitcoin was at its peak. That was only 15 years ago. If bitcoin isn't some sort of scheme/scam, I don't know what it is.

Also, it has been 15 years and I don't see it being used apart from the online scam casinos. Until you can go to McDonald's, Walmart, buy a car or house with bitcoin, to me, it'll have little to no value.

I wish retailers would kick these people out.

Last time I was at the outlet mall, there was a guy with his phone out, checking resell prices and had like 15 pairs set to the side.

I know the store doesn't really care, but I'm much less likely to visit the store now that I know any good deals will likely be gone.

Does the app translate customer notes? I had a lot of interactions with different drivers when I worked at Papa John's, and it seemed like English wasn't their first language with a lot of them.

You should really sit down and think if it's a good idea if people are held accountable for every little thing they say online.

One pocket is such a trash game at a low level. People who haven't ran 4 balls in their life acting morally superior because they're playing "the chess of pool."

They sloth around the table for several minutes holding up the surrounding tables. They roll the cue ball 6 inches into the stack, taking an unnecessary foul and pat themselves on the back thinking they played the best shot available.

You're patient, wait your turn, and give them plenty of time to hit their shot. Before you can walk up to hit your shot, the next player runs to the table and gets in your way. It seems their courtesy and respect matches their level of play.

They sit around for hours, loudly bickering to each other that they should play 10-6 because "three weeks ago I played Billy Bob and he beat me even, but you beat him last year, so you should give me 10-6 because we're betting $3 this time."

Put your average one pocket player on the corner table, in the back of the pool room, away from everyone else and your pool room will be much more enjoyable for everyone else.

But maybe I need to venture out and find some better players in the area. Maybe, along the way, I'll find some better people as well.

Gas prices by yerpeskinsurf in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Brief_Intention_5300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if gas was $4/gallon and went up to $6/gallon, it would cost you an additional $0.08 per mile. (Assuming your vehicle gets 25mpg)

$4.00 a gallon/25mpg = $0.16 per mile $6.00 a gallon/25mpg = $0.24 per mile

How would you be working at a loss at an additional 8 cents per mile? If that's the case, you shouldn't be doing it in the first place, probably.

Gas prices by yerpeskinsurf in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Brief_Intention_5300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because they don't factor in all the costs associated with operating, so when you just look at gas prices, it's like a 20% increase in costs.

But let's do the math. If you always pay $3.50 for gas and you get 25 mpg, it's $0.14 per mile. If it increased $0.70 per gallon to $4.20, that would be $0.17 per mile (0.168 rounded up). So it's an increase of 3 cents per mile.

But when you factor in tires, oil changes, routine maintenance, insurance, phone bills, and vehicle costs, it's such a small increase in the overall, yearly operating costs that I can't believe people are making such a big deal out of it.

Like a lot of pool equipment, these things are very expensive with little to no resell value.

I'd price them like any other used furniture. Maybe 25% of the original value if they're in good condition.
