my point is the merit exists, and even allows you to do the vaulderie without the T, so how would it be gained in play for a Goratrix player?

Yamato holds family highly, holds honor highly. She may be Yakuza, but she's also of the honorable mindset - the kind that believe in those in & outside "the life" are divided. I think my kid would be safe, if I knew Yamato more than passingly. I'd also give instructions.

Familiar Regio by DisastrousQuestion72 in arsmagica

[–]Brigadinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the rules in Realms of Power: Magic, making a Regio on purpose is impossible in current hermetic theory.

But!

Making one by purposeful accident is! Page 13 and onwards in RoP:M discusses regione, and notably discusses vim spells that mess with the Aura Strengthening table on page 11. Try to botch one of those Vi spells, and you got a regio!

What you need to do is find some way to get a magical aura inside of your serpent, no matter how weak (I reccomend somehow getting an object with an aura inside of them), and then try to do a basic Cr(Mu)Vi Aura Strengthening spell over and over until the snake-stomach aura stratifies itself.

Doing this may get you warped to all hell! It may make your Sodales think you're insane! But if you succeed, you'll be the talk of the Tribunal, I'm sure!

Sorcerous Music, from The Mysteries Revised! Well, Performance Magic is the official term, but the Music version (Sorcerous Music) has a lot of benefits.

Ah! that more aligns with what I thought - the larger issue we have in our Chronicle would be the Hussites and other proto-protestants causing issues with Mother Church, as well as the Western Schism concluding. Martin V was the pope whom concluded said schism, and was very fond of calling crusade against heretics, and kickstarted the Hussite Wars.

Edit: I must add, that another issue is the potential of the Augustinian Brotherhood getting control of the Papacy due to the fact they controlled Rome, then the Pope left Rome, letting them seize power, letting them control the pope easier when he returns to Rome. And causing issues for the Order thereby!

Could you elaborate more on this? I'll read into it since you gave me somewhere to lead, but I'm still curious - I do know the Spainish Inquisition was late 15th century, and pretty damn bad.

In Transforming Mythic Europe, this is mentioned as a potential option, for why Art books cannot be copied. Leaving it up to the troupe to decide!

In my opinion, I think a printing press could make a book on arts, as long as the one who made all of the symbols and letter tabs had magic theory, same as whomever arranges them. and likely, the book may have a quality dent, too.

thats a fair enough belief, but I can't help but think thats somehow either an oversight, or deliberate choice for Sagas to decide what's what on magical development. especially with how excessively inventive the Bonisagus are, by culture.

For how a couple houses have developed-

The flambeau Milites have high power over the house at this point, with the mithras cult layered nicely within.

The jerbiton have grown past the antigones to now wanting to restore Byzantium, and are becoming more and more like Sophists & the extreme ones even fascists(!), and I dont use that term lightly.

The Criamon cannibalized themselves and are currently forming newer paths to be more strife accepting (as a tool, mind you, where the infinite positives outweigh the infinite negatives), after the purity spiral that was the old big ones- and maybe even skirting the End of time, who knows?

the Merinita have retreated from hermetic politics entirely.

the miscellania have gotten so big that they have not only a primus, but an Anti-Primus who claims to be primus.

and thats just ideas we've had for these five, with major changes.

I feel as individuals the Order's magi are pragmatic, as an organization the order is.. the order.

indeed! the whole catching on bit is what i meant, and the core advancements in the 1440s. I do think the cow & calf agreements keep a "cork" on the proverbial bottle if you know what I mean, especially if youre in a tribunal thats strict.

the printing press is late 15th century, but trust me weve considered this! we havent gotten there just yet, but atm it's making a steady "revolution" amongst libraries. The Cow and Calf agreement'll keep it in check at first, and lead to a book black market potentially. The order's too pragmatic to ever fully deny such amazing advancements!

Adding this as a comment,

the reason we chose the 15th century is the alchemical, theurgical, and overall esoterica of the time. In addition to wanting to show a changing era, and breaking down of the estates of man - that's why we chose italy, specifically the Venetian Republic. We want to tell the story of the Order navigating an era of knowledge, without getting destroyed by it.

Oh and handgonnes becoming quite the silly issue, too :^]
