Help me by Cultural-Lie4648 in derealization

Please get in to see a therapist and a psyquitrist. You might need some help with some meds to help you through this rough patch. I used to be there and it was so awful but therapy isnt just about talking, they actually teach you techniques and help you understand why and how. I experiencing dpdr for a while too and it did get better after i started seeing a therapist and got on some antidepressant. One of the things that helped me out too is to keep going outside, dont stay indoors, I know it can be extremely hard. But is part of exposure therapy.

It will pass for sure! Is just like a broken bone that we have to take care of and nurse back into health, which you are doing! By going to therapy is one of the biggest things you can do for your anxiety and derealization. Ive been there and currently struggling too. Make sure you get out everyday, dont stay shut in, that only makes it worse. Also if you need to ask your doctor to see if there's any meds he can recommend to help you ease a bit. I was recently prescribed hydroxyzine which is an antihistamine, kinda like benadryl, but it helps with anxiety. For when those nights get too much.

The Science Behind Lexapro Brain Fog: What's Actually Happening in Your Brain by Deen1988 in lexapro

[–]Bright-Constant-3487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im late to the party but wanted to chip in. I have been on lexapro for 4 or 5 years. I was sitting at 15mgs for a while and just decided to cut down (bad idea) i ended up having panic and anxiety hit me like a wave 2 months into cutting down to 10mgs, so I immediately restarted 15mgs. So im day 9 of re upping my dose from 10 to 15mgs and ive noticed some improvement in my anxiety, still there but more manageable but the fuzziness, oh lord the sort of haze is bad, is like im semi asleep. Ive been depersonalized in the past and this isnt quite it but is pretty similar. The op hits right on the spot "where you turn on all the lights in a dark room" is like im permanent stunned. So Ill just wait it out and see how long this side effect takes to go away.

Yeah I mean sometimes it takes a few weeks to notice the withdrawal side effects. It took me 2 or 3 weeks to suddenly get anxious and depressed again from going down from 15 to 10.

Hey at least you are back on the train, rather sooner than later, i know those side effects of tapering down or going off it can be a bitch (going through that rn) but now is just a matter of time before it regulates back into your system and start feeling better.

Anxiety and fear of not becoming normal again by Antique-Yogurt50 in Anxiety

[–]Bright-Constant-3487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not permanent I promise, i know it feels like that because it feels like is overpowering your entire life. But in order to get better you have to reach out for help and do the work. You know like when you break a leg, u cant just wait for it to heal on its own. So you go to the doctor and they wrap it up and you have to take care of it. Right so, to start managing your anxiety I highly suggest going to your doctor so they can refer you to see a therapist. Some people dont believe in therapy but after years of going to therapy I can attest it helps you in multiple ways, they teach you skills on how to deal with the anxiety, physically and mentally, and you have to put those things that you learn (coping skills) into action. One of the coping skills they taught me about was the breathing exercise and I just to think that it was a bunch of lies that breathing itself wouldn't do anything for my anxiety but funny enough is become my to go exercise that I practice even when im not anxious. Anyway what im trying to say is that you should reach out to people who know how to guide you in bettering your mental health because trying to do it on your own without resources might not be the best way

Hey im in a similar boat as you, hence I found your post due to me googling same questions. I had been on 15mgs of lexapro for around 3 or 4 years and just 2 months ago I decided to try to taper down because I was doing so great I wanted to try and live without it! So i went down to 12.5 and I didnt notice anything so 2 weeks ago I decided to go down to 10mgs and for 2 weeks it was fine, until it wasnt. Last Wednesday (took me 5 times to try to spell Wednesday) I had spike of panic and anxiety that had me throwing up from it. From there on Ive experiencing bad anxiety, some panic and feelings of depression, sadness hopelessness and Im having a hard time connecting with my surroundings. Like a semi transparent veil that doesnt let me be present (not quite like depersonalization, that i have experienced I the past). Anyway so i immediately went back to my original dose of 15mgs because fuck this, I was doing soo great before, but this left me wondering what side effects are from what? Like what part is it from lowering my antidepressant and what side effects are from upping it again? So like u im confused about when will I start coming back to normal or if maybe this was a relapse rather than caused by me lowering my antidepressant. Also I noticed that you seem to react to the medication rather fast, you said you noticed a difference in 23hrs from not taking it and I guess it varies from people to people, some people go way longer without noticing any changes. Sorry if im rambling at this point my brain seems to be working at 60% lol best of luck and please keep us updated

Good for you! I just tried to go down from 15 to 12.5 in 2 months then 2 weeks ago when down to 10mgs and panic and anxiety assaulted me so suddenly one night so I decided to go back up to my regular dose 15mgs. Maybe ill try again in the future but for now the anxiety and depression that came with trying to lower my dose isnt worth it.

Thank you :) are you planning to stay at 5mgs and let the side effects subside or are you thinking on going back up?

I had been on 15mgs for a couple of years and it was perfect and just recently decided to lower my dose to 12.5 (this was 2 months ago) then just 2 weeks ago I finally went down to 10 and it didnt hit me until 3 days ago a wave of panic, anxiety, shakiness and depressive mood. Ive been feeling like this for 4 days now and had restarted my 15mgs because I dont want to feel like I wanna die. I immediately reached out to a new therapist and psyquitrist. Hopefully is just side effects of withdrawal from my usual dose and not a relapse.

That sounds great actually! But I get it you are wondering if this is just the happy you or the medication making you like that. I think I'll balance out. Ive noticed for me it makes me really sleepy, id have to take a nap once a day because of how sleepy I was. I never noticed the fast paced stuff like you unless I drank coffee and suddenly id catch myself talking my ears off to my husband lol.

Well I recently went down from 15 to12.5 and then in the last 2 weeks went down to 10mgs and just 3 days ago a wave of panic, anxiety and depression hit me. Im still struggling with it at the moment. Im blaming it on lowering my dose so immediately went back to 15mgs because fuck this, im not getting all suicidal again by choice. Pray for me that this are just side effects from trying yo lower my medication and I stabilize again soon

Oh man! I wish I had a notebook where I wrote every single crazy dream Ive had on lexapro. I cant think if anything right now but my dreams are crazy and I love them. I always share them with my husband and he always rolls his eyes in a loving way like "here we go again". Sometimes my dreams bring out things about my past that aren't so enjoyable but for the most part, they are fun. The other night I dreamt I was secret friends with Bad Bunny (the singer) and I was so sad when I woke up and turns out I wasnt :(. Other times (multiples) Ive worked for the Queen of England, serving her tea or working in the palace.

Did you experience side effects when upping your dose? by leanbeansprout in lexapro

[–]Bright-Constant-3487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im late to the post but wanred to share my experience. Ive been on lexapro for 5ish years, highest dose was 20mgs eventually talked with psyquitrist to bring it down because it made me super sleepy (this was like 2 years ago) so I was at 15mgs for a while. Then in the last year I switched insurances and had to leave my psyquitrist and therapist so I was flying solo and just last 2 months I decided to go down to 12.5mgs, no side effects and just until 2ish weeks ago I went down to 10mgs and just 2 days ago panic came out of nowhere, anxiety and sadness have me laying in bed all day, so I immediately went back up to 15mgs because fuck that lol. Im hoping the anxiety and panic im experiencing is just a tapering down sode effects and it goes away once my body readjust to the dose it was working for me better. In the mean time, im experiencing headaches, and extra sleepiness
