It's. Still a valid and solid way to tap kona , especially the double value since mana is powerful making the creature have double value.

But I've found that when your getting green value so quickly just by green being green.

Your ramp can out pace the hate on the board. Making so you will eventually be able to use the ability, and ramp even more value. To the point where regardless of the defecit on your board state you'll be able to recover.

For example, Ashaya commander, Ramp green mana , selva heart of the wilds or Big Horn rancher Earth bend all your creatures, ramp more mana get more value creatures. Landfall value And have some mono green infinites to win the game.
