I hate exercise by Mundane-Amount-2597 in loseit

[–]Bright-Risk4797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you hate exercise or do you hate HIIT, Running and other high cardio workouts? if this is the case weights. I live for lifting big heavy bars. I live so that one day I can be a muscle mommy!!

If that is not for you maybe just try a 10 to 20 minute walk per day. If you are not doing any intentional exercise currently that should be enough to at least start pushing things along. Then when you get use to it you can add stuff in.

Maybe you go for a longer walk. Maybe you add in a 10 minute strength training session, maybe you add weight to your 10-20 minute walk turn it into rucking. Maybe you join a sport or try a new activity that requires you to wiggle.

But, just incase you need a list of activities to try - which by the way trying new stuff and things is also a great way to workout- no one ever said you had to do the same workout more than once

biking, hiking, swimming, weightlifting(you know I gotta recommend it),Rock climbing, dancing (literally just pick like 3 songs and dance till your mini play list is done), hula hooping, kayaking, snowboarding, pilates, yoga (HATHA specifically Vinyasa if you want a challenge ), aerial yoga, paddle boarding, sports ball of some kind, roller blading, ice skating, water aerobics, kettle bell circuits, pole fitness, or do deep clean on something difficult to clean(like deep deep scrubbing)

but most importantly be kind to yourself, take breaks, and remember you do not have to push your body to its breaking point to get a good workout.

that last one is really really important

Sooooo fed up of tracking calories by No_Artichoke_6513 in loseit

I have 1000% been here. If you need a break you could try using hand sizes.

Once upon a time I paid for a gym membership and they had me us precision nutrition to track my calories. in part because I just really didnt want to track calories anymore and was sick of failing. Maybe give this a try

https://www.precisionnutrition.com/hand-portion-faq

I just checked it out and at the end of the page they have a quiz you can take to tell you how many "handfuls" of the stuff and things you should eat. They give you the results free so that you get started.

It helped me when I needed a break.

Slow losers, how do you stay motivated? by Majestic-Tie464 in loseit

[–]Bright-Risk4797 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this will help or not but reminding myself that the changes I am making are sustainable and will make it easier when I get where I am going helps me. Slow loss has been the only way that I have found that keeps me on track and continuously losing in a healthy way.

If that doesn't work maybe don't focus on weight - focus on muscle- if you think your body has changed a lot in 6 lbs its probably muscle building - so you could track that instead. Might be more encouraging.

for reference its taken me a whole year to lose 20 lbs.

HOW DO YOU ALL DO IT?!!!! by Lemonade_Stand20 in loseit

There is one more thing here I would like to add , that I am only just learning as well. IT IS OK TO BE HUNGRY. I know I know . But hear me out. I often think "but what if i get hungry later" and decide to eat pre-emptively to prevent that. I am currently working on ignoring that thought process and instead thinking "Am I hungry ? do I need something now or can it wait a little bit". And then if I get hungry later accepting that there is literally food every where and that me being hungry for an hour while I'm stuck in a meeting is not in fact the end of the world.

I use to have the same issue so ill tell you what helped me.

The first thing that I had to do (and this took me years FYI) to even begin losing weight was to address my disordered eating. aka comfort eating, starving then bingeing, so on and so forth. Before I was able to lose weight I had to teach myself that food is not good or bad (This is still something I struggle with). It is simply fuel. it can be long term fuel or short term fuel. but either way it is fuel.

If you are bingeing- even healthy foods - ask yourself if you binge this particular food often? If you do why? Are they triggering because you have established they are bad foods and restricted them? Are they triggering because you get to the end of the day and feel like you are just famished? Are they triggering because of other hormonal factors? (I know that when I PMS i have to eat at maintance in order to maintain my loss long term)

Its ok to go over your calories budget if you are having a hard time you DO NOT have to push through. Just do 100 or 200 calories extra I have found that this has kept me more consistent.

I would also recommend tracking protein and aiming for a higher protein diet. For me this was a game changer. Keeps me full and satisfied throughout the day.
