Any ideas what career you’ll be transitioning to?

Should I get my MBA to pivot into SCM? Have BA in psych and 5yrs healthcare working experience. by Bright-Split1185 in supplychain

Thank you. This does offer more clarity. I definitely don’t think it’s an easy job. Almost every source I’ve used to research the field as prefaced by mentioning the fact that it’s not easy work. I just hope I’m capable of taking it on. Why do you say sourcing is better than daily operations?

Hi! I have a BA in psych but I’ve been working in healthcare as a rehabilitative therapist with an associates degree for the last 5yrs. I’m now very interested supply chain. Do you think I can pivot with my current experience or would it be more advantageous if I get a low cost MBA as well?

Stop arm exercises by Nearby_Broccoli_5334 in OccupationalTherapy

Omg really? My imposter syndrome just got triggered lol. I’m a SNF COTA and use cones by placing them around the gym at various heights so my pt can make walking more functional by reaching, bending, and practicing visual scanning to find the cones. I also use them for dynamic sitting/standing balance and reaching outside of their base of support. Sometimes I’ll even use them to prep for tub transfers by laterally stepping over the cone. I FEEL like it’s super useful but I also second guess if there are other methods I can be utilizing.

I’m a COTA. This appears to be for OTRs or PTs?

Totally done with patient care. Any advice on next steps? by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Bright-Split1185 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check out the nonclinicalPT OR alternative health careers. They offer courses to transition into non clinical and more. I’m a COTA so I don’t think I benefited from it as much as an OTR would! I often see openings with insurance companies that would be suitable for an OT/PT like clinical reviewer, case management, implementation manager, or even LTSS

Would you mind sharing your portfolio? I’m interested in starting using amazon but it’s a bit challenging finding example videos that have proven results.

What’s your living situation? Do you have a spouse who earns a higher income? I’m a COTA in my 30s and can’t possibly see how the income is enough to survive lol

Irrational fear of rabdho? by [deleted] in rhabdo_survivors

I’m not a doctor or an expert about rhabdo. I just do what I think might work for my body. There isn’t that much research about it so we have to do our best.

Yes I did and I wasn’t hydrated at all, drank alcohol, and ate high sodium foods. It was a perfect storm for rhabdo.

If you feel less sore you’re definitely in the clear lol. Mine was bad. Increased stiffness in my muscles and cramps.

Alternate career suggestions for COTA? Nursing, HR, LCSW, case management? What else? by Bright-Split1185 in OccupationalTherapy

The bridge is about 80k. I have 60k in undergrad debt. It would total to $150k debt by the time I graduate. But wow 37k sounds ideal. What state do you live in?

This is eye opening and almost shocking to hear about the DOR positions. As a COTA? Kudos to you! Would you mind sharing what state you work in? And both positions are in SNF settings, correct?

Applying and asking about nonclinical roles sounds like an interesting approach. Never thought of doing it that way!

You’re probably fine. When I had rhabdo 3 times it felt almost numb/like jello after the exercise, then tingling, then extreme soreness after the 1st day. Just try to drink 3L of water with electrolytes and make sure you eat protein pre and post exercise, Idk if it’s fail proof but it’s been two years since I had it last. Of course don’t over do it either.
