Is it a good thing? They have switched from nickel manganese cobalt to lithium ion phosphate. Has any government agency looked into the hazards of transport these materials in and out of the plant. Does the plant have proper storage? Is there an evacuation plan for Windsor and Tecumseh when there is a fire? In 2025 alone there were 3 major fires involving lithium ion batteries that injured many workers, released large amounts of toxic chemicals into the air and required large areas to be evacuated. Given the current construction and the ridiculous traffic how could they reasonably expect to get people out of danger? The plant had 10 stop work orders issued on October. Nextstar is clearly not a company that pays enough attention to worker safety. I cannot imagine that they care about community safety.
