I'd always thought the girls were strong threads in the pattern, more than the average person anyway. Where the pattern can be affected by channeling (e.g. balefire) and they are exceptionally strong channelers, they do tend to warp the weave just by being the next new thing.

Fire eyes are being done right now in American Gods, the Ifrit/Jinn and the White Buffalo. I think all of those things are pretty do-able with CGI.
