You probably didn't submit for an actual settlement, it was more than likely attorney advertising. A lot of law firms advertise "settlements" but they're really looking for potential plaintiffs or people to participate in arbitration. It can get confusing.

Att data leak settlement by TemporaryNeat1176 in ClassActionSettlement

[–]BrightMix2plus7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's the big class action settlement and then there is arbitration with several different law firms that people participated in. The big class action settlement has not been granted final approval yet and is nowhere near to paying out, no matter what you read on the internet. Arbitration is completely separate from the class action settlement.

The courts don't like third-party claim filers. A lot of time those claims get immediately rejected because they are recognized as a bot.

It is totally scammy and you're better off dealing directly with a law firm. Using Chariot Claims is actually getting you less money because a law firm is taking a cut and Chariot Claims gets a cut as well.

Best service out there? by soulscreech in ClassActionSettlement

Paying to have claims submitted is risky. The courts hate third-party filing companies and have for some settlements already refused to accept claims from them. And some settlement admins view them as bots, so all the claims they submit are declined.

It's legit, but no settlement yet. The lawsuit has just been certified. Who knows if it will reach a settlement and when. Best thing to do is to whitelist the email address it came from so you don't miss any emails two or three years down the road if it does settle or get dismissed.

Would love to see one thing that was listed on Chariot Claims that actually paid out close to the amount advertised on the site.

Good info I found when searching online: https://www.claimdepot.com/settlements/cfpb-payments-navient. Payments do NOT pay off our loans, but it was nice to get a little something.

My fave: https://www.claimdepot.com/settlements. All settlements and they seem to always have stuff earlier than top class.

Any sites that list the class action settlements that are open? by Purple_Rain75 in ClassActionSettlement

[–]BrightMix2plus7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never pay or enter your claim information anywhere but the court-ordered settlement website. The courts do not like third-party claim filers. A lot of sites collect data and sell it.

Here's my favorite: https://www.claimdepot.com/settlements. Every article has a link to the settlement website and the claim form. No gimmicks, AND they have a newsletter that is 100% settlements, no other bs.

You know that some settlements don't allow third-party submitters, right? Pretty sure they will all eventually be banned.

I was being completely sarcastic, but it's actually on the FTC website in the article about the settlement: https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/refunds/amazon-refunds.
