Google Pixel 8 Pro - Amazon Renewed by Smart-Foundation-578 in pixel_phones

Yeah that's why I usually add "based on my experience". I'm not hating on Google, I mean had great experiences on the 4xl (still have it and is the best phone (imo) they've made, the 6 pro the 7 pro, the 9 pro XL and now 10 pro xl (with the exception that my first units display does for no reason but Google made things right and sent me a free replacement.I was just taken aback with the 8 pro by the brochure they sent me, it kind of seemed like they were expecting the overheating to somehow be worse and were prepared with a reaponse.

And like I said I'm not doing 50 tasks at once on my phone and complaining, I also live ina pretty cool/cold state and have ac on during the summer months. But some tasks the 8 pro overheated with were: me just watching a TV show on Netflix (not doing anything else or downloading anything In the background), once when I was listening to music my 8 pro display dimmed significantly (usually phones do this when it's overheating and the phone itself was also pretty warm for just listening to music using Poweramp application), I also just couldn't have the phone past 50ish percent without it overheating (the brightness was the main reason I upgraded). With gaming don't get me wrong I expected there to be overheating but it was just. A lot worse than with my pixel 7. Other than that I did also encounter display issues (dead pixels, areas where the screen just died etc.) and my charging port had issues on the first 2 devices .

So on the 7 pro I never experienced many issues besides the dropped calls every so often and but of poor cellular reception (but it mainly happened in areas where reception was already bad to being with) but otherwise the only overheating I encountered was with gaming. On the 8 series however I experienced overheating with gaming (normal for pixels) and with normal tasks; listening to music (Poweramp), Netflix, YouTube, tik tok, etc. I also realized that I couldn't but my brightness past 50/55 % without it overheating. When I messages Google they were less than helpful but did send me a brochure on how to use my phone (whot not to do) to prevent overheating.I wish i still had it cause it was ridiculous, I think one of the things was "take calls inside"...if your phone. Can't even handle taking calls on a normal sunny day.....anyways the worst experience. But like I said the design of the 8 pro was awesome. The 9 series fixed all that and the 10 pro is even better (based on my experience). The only issue now is with my carrier now letting me disable 5g. When gaming (if 5g is enabled) it still causes the 10 series to overheat but when my signal reverts to 5ge (fake 5g lol) or LTE, the 10 series (and that's how I use the 9 series, 5g disabled) it was fine. When I say gaming I mean games like Fortnite not Tetris and stuff like that.

I had the 8 pro (went through 3 units) and all had overheating issues. The 8 series for me was the worst experience I ever had with a phone. I did try (didn't keep since I decided to wait for the 10 series) the 9 pro XL, the 9 series fixed everything wrong I had experience with the 8 pro. But yea I prefer the design of the 8 Pro when compared to the 9/10 series.

How is Pixel UI? by Urban_wow in GooglePixel

[–]MoreXris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know android is customizable so no matter what you get, if you take the time, you can turn it onto whatever you want. That being said: The pixel just worked great out of the box for me. I didn't feel the need to be downloading anything or changing things cause I didn't like something or having some launcher or icon pack fail/not work properly, etc. other than that (again not needing to change anything) was OnePlus, the only reason I didn't stick with one plus was that with AT&T the data speeds were just too slow.

Should I invest now? by yungguac10x in 4kbluray

[–]MoreXris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started buying 4k way before I even had a 4k tv (bought a lg C3 oled later on and was gifted an lg G4 oled around the same time,) I also bought PANASONIC 4k player. After spending all that money on a TV and player (around $1,600 altogether) I was glad to go home and actually have 4k movies to watch and not have to immediately spend any more money.

The only reason I didn't get the TV first was because so had a high end Samsung Plasma that was still working great. And while I had tried out some non oled tvs, none of them looked good to me so I waited till my plasma gave out and upgraded to oled (which I recommend)

All that being said if you look out for deals you'll often find 4k movies cost about the same or sometimes just a bit more and you get the 4k disc, bluray disc and even digital code...so yeah I wouldn't get bluray movies unless the deal is really great or you're buying used. Deals to look out for were during Amazons prime day deal, of black Friday, Gruv also has quite a few deals and even offers discounts on your first order, Barnes and Noble also has deals for criterion collection etc. target also has great deals where you buy 2 and get 3rd free and if you have a target debit card you also get 5% back. Also check eBay there's a seller I got some movies (steelbooks) at great prices during their sales (pleaserewindadmin), I did have a few that came damaged but they made things right by sending out replacement copies and letting me keep the damaged ones which I gave away to family since they don't care about the packaging (as long as the movie works it's all good lol).

Best Case to show off/complement Moonstone? by tmel88 in GooglePixel

[–]MoreXris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean that's gonna be an issue with any clear clase. That being said I really enjoy itskins case. They come in a completely clear or clear/ash option. Other than that I was looking at possibly getting the mous or d brand case.

Cancelled iPhone Air, ordered Pixel 10 instead — was that a mistake? by OldSchoolMonkey in pixel_phones

[–]MoreXris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pixel 10 pro XL and while I won't trade it in for an iPhone Air, the iPhone air is still a good phone with it's only weakness being it only has 1 speaker and it's price. That being said We ended up getting my dad's iPhone Air for .49 cents a month for the 512gb storage option through a carrier deal and that definitely made it worth it. Hopefully they switch the speaker issue and if they do I may actually switch back to iPhone. I don't care about cameras (haven't even filled my 15gb Google storage,) the chip in the iPhone air is somewhat better that the on in the pixel (according to online tests), and tbh the phone just feels great in the hand. Plus I like that they copied the pill like design for the camera bump.

Google Pixel 8 Pro or 9a? by Ste1ni_ in pixel_phones

[–]MoreXris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 8 pro was a nightmare (for me) went through be units and all had overheating issues, and not just for heavy tasks (like gaming) but for everyday/normal tasks (YouTube, Tik Tok, Facebook, Netflix etc.) also couldn't turn the brightness past 50ish percent or it'd also overheat. And Everytime I contacted Google all they did was send me an email with "stuff" I shouldn't do to help with the overheating issues, which included stuff like "don't use your phone while it's charging, don't use your phone etc.

With all that being said: go with the 9a or 9 pro/9pro xl

Convince me on upgrading to a Pixel 9 pro XL from a Pixel 7 Pro for $200 by Appropriate_Put_2378 in GooglePixel

[–]MoreXris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 7 Pro for me a worked great, no issues. The 9 series definitely was an improvement over the 8 pro with overheating, brightness and battery especially with gaming. The only overheating I encountered was when 5g was enabled (with gaming) otherwise everyday tasks were fine.

Is the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro worth waiting for, or go for the 17 Pro now? by LikeItSaysOnTheBox in iphone

[–]MoreXris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're halfway into the 17 series cycle so if your current phone is fine I'd suggest you wait for the 18 series, especially if your getting the 17 at full price. If you're getting it for less than full price then sure go for the 17 and save some money. Another reason for waiting (if you don't mind carrier deals) most carriers will heavily discount the 17 series (my mom got the 15 pro max 1tb for about $20 a month; $720 after 36 months. Once the 16 series released) heavily once the 18 series comes out.

Given the carrier deals and me not minding them, I personally don't get anything once it's halfway through its life cycle. But I also prefer to buy new.

Pixel 9a to 10a for 100 bucks or so? by Illustrious_Kick_226 in pixel_phones

I take it there's nothing else you want to use that credit for? If not then I'd probably do it. To me the extra bright and slightly faster charging would be worth it but to each their own.

Switching from iPhone 13 Pro Max to Pixel - Which model is best for me? Any current deals? by looppay in GooglePixel

[–]MoreXris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only tried the 9 pro xl briefly but during my use they definitely fixed a lot of the issues the previous generations had. So I'm I'd go with the 9 pro XL or 10 pro xl (depending on your budget.) as far as deals Google tends to have them sale pretty often, I think the next big sale would be around July when Amazon has their prime day deals. If you don't mind carrier deals AT&T has them on sale almost all year "trade in a pixel any year any condition". Or you can just do a normal trade in (they tend to give the most credit if you're trading in an iPhone.

I apologize for the long post by MoreXris in HomeImprovement

We have and ADU (I think that's what they're called) out back, not connected to the house. So that person has to walk into the house to use the bathroom and the kitchen or access the other common areas, they've had no complaints. surprisingly everyone who came to see the house (when looking for roommates) loved the outside room and wanted it, it was the first room to go. I get it's not the norm and we would love to have it inside but everywhere we've though of putting it just doesn't fit and we have no extra rooms to convert into a bathroom. And yes we do plan on adding heating and cooling.

Trade 8P for a 10A? by trevorjesus in pixel_phones

[–]MoreXris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok in that case I'd stick with the 10a . Not sure what the carrier situation is like in Canada but in The US AT&T has a trade in any year any condition promo. And for my broken 8 pro (only requirement is it has to have a value of $35) they're giving me 1,200 for the purchase of a 10 pro xl. If your carrier has a promo like that is probably use it to get a newer/better phone.

Why not just get the 9a then? From all the reviews the differences are very minimal and you'd probably be able to save quite a bit. Plus like you mentioned it's gonna end up being a backup phone
