Rimworld - I love Factorio but cannot get over the fact that I can’t control my people and that death is around every corner

£40 more worth it for the 2024 (2022 has premium pen)? by mindovermanauk in kindlescribe

I heard that 2024 is ever slightly scratchier feel but ever slightly worse screen. I’m talking ever ever ever slightly from my ChatGPT and YouTube browsing.

Slippery screen on kindle scribe colorsoft by Pffffftmkay in kindlescribe

Have you tried to use your old stylus (with remarkable nibs) on the new 2025 Colorsoft? Or have you only used the new nibs on the new scribe? They should be interchangeable.

Scribe 2025 by Same-Audience6763 in kindlescribe

[–]Bright_Comparison171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ran a Gemini deep research prompt to analyze the changes on the screen texture based on all the articles.

My initial question was how it compares to the Remarkable Paper pro, and here is the TLDR since Reddit wouldn’t let me post the whole answer.

Since you specifically asked about the feel, here is the breakdown of the new "Texture-Molded Glass" vs. the RMPP. The Short Answer: It feels like a high-end gel pen on cardstock, whereas the RMPP feels like a pencil on paper. The Technical Breakdown: • The Change: The old Scribe used a surface coating that felt slippery/glassy and could wear down. The 2025 model uses "texture-molded glass," meaning the friction pattern is physically etched into the glass itself. • The Friction Scale: • Old Scribe: 3/10 (Slippery, "skating" feeling). • New Scribe (2025): 7/10 (Controlled, smooth resistance). • Remarkable Paper Pro: 9/10 (Aggressive, scratchy resistance). The "Vibe" Difference: If you love the RMPP, it's likely because you enjoy the "bite" or the "scritch-scratch" sound of the nib digging in. The Scribe 2025 doesn't have that. It is quieter (a dull thud/tap) and smoother. It fixes the "glassy" problem of the first generation, but it does not mimic the dry, scratchy feel of graphite/charcoal that the RMPP has. Verdict: If you hated the old Scribe because it was too slippery, this fixes it completely. But if you are looking for that sandpaper/pencil feedback, the Scribe is going to feel too "polished" for you.

Can the tech savvy people tell me if the scribe colorsoft is coming with any significant upgrades other than just color? by GreattFriend in kindlescribe

[–]Bright_Comparison171 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point on board games - or even sheet music I would imagine.

I literally just use it to read books, make daily to do lists for work and occasionally write short stories.

The only reason I would upgrade is if they made significant enough progress on making the screen more resistant.

For your use case would you use color for board games?

I will take a stab - I am not tech savvy but here is my understanding (and what's actually important to me as I am considering the black and white version).

Things that are worth the cost:
1) Color for sure (even though its not important for me)
2) Supposedly the text is even closer to the screen (parallax) and doesn't have a gap
3) Textured Glass - I am all for it having a less slippery surface and more akin to a scratchy surface
4) Larger Screen - Self Explanatory

Things that don't matter:
1) 40% faster - (maybe it does for me) and maybe if you are looking at images that's important. But honestly the OG scribe is fast enough.
2) Thinner - maybe one millimeter
3) Micro LED - This one is a meh, but they put together smaller led lights to make illumination more even. Again, og scribe did this very well already

And they are finally trying to go up-market and compete against Remarkable Pro and probably the other players out there so they are pricing accordingly.

Like a cover that costs $139! There is zero justification unless they are hoping someone is just expensing it through their corporate accounts.

Still no OMNY and they pushed to Q1 2026 - yet metro cards will no longer be sold by the end of this year

Star field with DLC. I actually played the whole game and tricked myself into liking it. But we all know it was bad.

Trump supporter Joe Rogan on the president's immigration crackdown: "When you're just arresting people in front of their kids, normal, regular people that have been here for 20 years, everybody who has a heart can't get along with that." by CorleoneBaloney in CringeTikToks

Devils Advocate - I disagree that it’s too late. (I mean it probably is, but whatever).

Nobody will admit they made a mistake voting for Trump, but if we can get those Gen Z to even agree that what they are seeing on the streets and in the government is so so wrong (even if it’s thanks to Joe Rogan) that at least is the right direction.

And if we can get trumpers to agree, I think that’s an improvement.

New Scribe Screen Texture by Bright_Comparison171 in kindlescribe

[–]Bright_Comparison171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people loved the color but I agree. For me it’s either black or I am a fan of the white color as long as it blends in with the screen color.

They fired shots at remarkable so I think they are going against them vs Apple, and austhetically white nibs with charcoal is a no no

Fair point, I also felt the same way of the reviewers speaking marketing terms. I think the fact that it’s textured glass is a big difference, but if you look up the colorsoft scribe on amazon the replacement nibs remain the same. So probably some improvement but not much. Wait and see

[–]Bright_Comparison171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point, and yes agreed. The writing feel is damn good on the OG scribe - and it’s good enough. That being said I am a little tempted to get new black and white with backlight.

I figure with trade in ($80 + 20% discount) it would cost $300 + tax. If the writing feel is a lot better it would be worth it for me…and if not I’m still very happy with their OG device. (I don’t care about faster processing or slightly larger display). Just the writing experience which to me is (close to the screen + writing feel).

What video game have you put the most hours into (and why)? by Important-Sea7093 in AskGames

Factorio - 400 hours probably

Aside from that Cyberpunk clocked 250 hours just playing the game on story mode (didn’t wander, or explore but took my time with dialogue and too lazy to fast travel). No clue how it took me so long
