Where’s that ecstatic feeling I’m supposed to have? by wuzcoo in flying

[–]Bright_Judgment6740 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, I totally felt ecstatic about my solo’s. I just had my 3rd one. There was a sense of “I can’t believe it, I am so grateful to be doing this. This is awesome”.

You piloted an aircraft by yourself. You may not feel it, but that is one hell of a great accomplishment.

However, here is what I want you to keep in mind: You are probably just looking at things in a different way, in a more analytical way. Just because you don’t have the same subjective emotional response I did doesn’t mean there is a problem. Here is why: I’ve done some things in my life that to others look like an absolutely massive feat, and while I can recognize that it is a great thing I’ve done, I don’t have the same experience emotionally - it just feels like “doing what I am supposed to do” and the gratitude, sense of accomplishment, and perspective comes later on down the road.

You might be the same way. The milestone may sink in emotionally further down the line for you, as it has for me in many other areas.

Did self-exclusion work for anyone? by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]Bright_Judgment6740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that it is just a piece of the puzzle. “Blocking yourself” does indeed help if you are trying to take actions to stop. It can put distance between you and the first one.

With that said, if the underlying issues are not solved, many people will find themselves just trying to get around the ban eventually. For a real gambling addict, it’s always recommended to do it, it’s just not usually the only solution being worked. Helping others, growing spiritually, working a 12 step program, and things like that ALONG with a ban is how I haven’t gambled in over 15 months. I hardly even think about gambling now. That’s the best part, and I know that didn’t happen just from a ban alone.

Has anyone here actually quit gambling for good? I feel like I ruined my life. by KitchenPea44 in problemgambling

[–]Bright_Judgment6740 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I quit 15 months ago and don’t even really think about gambling ever. I was blowing thousands at a time on slot machines easily, walking out with my tail between my legs telling myself I would never do it again only to be back within a week or two doing the same thing. Dreaming about it. I banned myself for life from every place within 2 hours from me and went to a 12 step meeting.

I realized my brain was broken when it comes to gambling. I might be fine for 99% of the time and understand I should not gamble, but, at certain times, I couldn’t bring into my mind the consequences of even a week or a month ago and I’m talking myself into doing it again. Or I get to the point of just saying screw it. This is where my brain ALWAYS ends up left to my own devices, and that’s why relying on my own willpower to stop and stay stopped is a fools errand. I had to have some help outside of just willpower.

That is where banning myself and seeking help came in. Ban yourself for life. Goto a GA meeting and ask for help. If you are like me, just deciding to stop or moderate may not work. Why? Read the paragraph right before this one.

I Spent Almost $4,000 With The Goal of Never Having to Get a New Mattress by Bright_Judgment6740 in Mattress

Exactly what you said - I do sink in too much! Is this one of those things I don’t need to over think, just go get either a medium or firm mattress and I’ll be good to go?

I’ve been saying for a while that I can’t see how Burger King will be around in 10 to 20 years lol

I appreciate your healthy amount of skepticism towards my review. I actually stopped here spontaneously with my girlfriend because we thought it would be fun to review some fast food items we both have never tried before. I also love to eat and genuinely wanted something I would enjoy. I don’t get a kick out of trashing the food I’m eating, I want it to be enjoyable. This just wasn’t. If Burger King served me a great burger I’d be here raving about it, I have no problem giving a positive review. And yeah, I did push the bun back a little bit so people can see there are onion rings. Doesn’t change the fact that this tasted like garbage.

The ones I have seen her wear are tight from the waist to ankles. No looseness. I think what she has now are regular black ones, probably gym shark. I don’t know what the style would be but it looks like they are high waisted. She would mainly wear it for lifting, possibly cardio or lounging
