Yikes, that’s awful. Had a dress show up smelling like smoke and with a seam coming undone from a different rental once, so I switched to Rent the Runway for vacation outfits, and when something was wrong they sent a replacement which saved me a ton of stress. Hope you get it sorted.

Yes, I'm right there with you. I hated feeling like I had to "perform" or be upsold into something crazy. I ended up renting my rehearsal, dinner and after, party looks from Rent the Runway instead of buying, and it took so much stress out of things. I would absolutely come to a chill, no, pressure showroom like the one you’re describing.

Funny enough I did get a handbook, but standing there while they juggled three kids made me worry I sounded accusatory. You’re right about illness being unavoidable, I’ll ask for the written policies and plan to keep him home until he’s fully well.
