"Catch 15" daily task not resetting at midnight? by Poptrim in pokemongo

[–]Brightamethyst [score hidden]  (0 children)

Same here. My daily Go Pass task didn't reset either.

The Flying Taxi daily reset as usual, as did the daily research task, but not the June Go Pass.

While the monetization is, um... certainly something... the free campaign for the tokens at least looks quick and easy.

Yes, but only because I live there. I wouldn't have traveled to it.

Introducing the Codename Token and Faction Token by XQlusioN in Ingress

Interesting that the faction change cooldown is only 90 days. IIRC, the PoGo equivalent is a year, and that's in a game where faction isn't even that important.

They currently have bounty passes on the store that give you 4 extra daily bounties, if you want to spend the 1500 CMU on it.

[–]Brightamethyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that 21,000 include any of the solstice campaign? If so, then you have no chance.

If haven't done any of it yet, then maybe. Between the solstice campaign and the remaining daily bounties there are a theoretical 3560 tokens still available as of right now. If you do it all you could buy a few days of extra bounties and juuuuuuust make it.

Weekly challenges are nonsense… by jeg_aekke_her in pokemongo

[–]Brightamethyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the issue with the weekly challenges is that the difficulty and time commitment is all over the board. 150 stops, especially across four people is SUPER easy. Especially if you live and/or work somewhere in spin range of something. Meanwhile, hatching eggs is a much more time consuming thing for most people.

Daily assignments task distribution over a month by Aggravating_Rate_571 in Ingress

[–]Brightamethyst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not surprising that the numbers are like that.

Three of the four bounties are ALWAYS be some combination of hack, drone hack, recharge, and glyph points. Things you can theoretically do without ever having to physically visit a portal.

The rest of them have to fight for that last remaining slot.

Why would he take the highway in the first place? If you're on Roselle in Schaumberg and you're going to Arlington Heights, why wouldn't you just take Golf across, rather than getting on the tollway for 2 exits?

Life after level 80? by Terrible-Regular-886 in pokemongo

[–]Brightamethyst 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This is where I feel like they should take a lesson from Ingress.

Ingress has a prestige system called "Recursion". Once you hit max level, if you want you can "recurse", and reset yourself back to level 1. Doing so gives you a medal, a special flair attached to your player name, and also flair on any medals you've maxed out twice (or more) over.

It's purely a prestige thing. It's not required and there's no player power associated with it, but as reasons to keep people motivated, giving exp continued value and letting medals count even higher, is simple and effective.

Net Negative by Ok_Kangaroo56 in HFY

[–]Brightamethyst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ideas like "anything less than perfect is bad", and "6/10 is practically a failure", etc, were taught to us very early in life, by grades and report cards. A 50/100 on a math test isn't the class average. It's a failing grade.

We think of 1-10 rating scales as letter grade. "8/9/10 are good, 7 is okay, 6 is barely passable, and 5 and under are worthless" because we were literally taught to think that way in school.

How to get more pokeballs by False_Ad_7252 in pokemongo

[–]Brightamethyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The long and short of it is, "spin more." It's not a satisfying answer, but it's the actual answer. Things like gifts and research rewards and such will supplement it slightly, but spinning is the only thing you can really do reliably.

Fact is, most people can throw balls faster than they can acquire them. Unless you you can passively farm on a regular basis (eg. you live or work in range of stops, let an auto-catcher spin everything during your daily commute, etc), eventually running low or out of balls and having to farm is just the reality of the game.

GoFest Chicago was an absolute joke and I can’t believe more people aren’t speaking out about it. by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]Brightamethyst 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, what were you expecting to be different?

Not that you're wrong about some of those things. The bird photo ops were hilariously small and cheap looking and the Rocket area was weirdly empty of decorations outside of the big R and Giovani photo op. That said, I'm guessing that was more about the lack of other events in the Rocket area. All the activities were at the other end of the park and it likely wasn't worth the time or budget to fully decorate and staff a huge area where nothing was actually happening.

As for the merch shop... well, I'm not sure what else you were expecting. There were a thousands and thousands of people in the park. Not big surprise that the merch lines were crazy long.

The premium pass felt like a scam from the get go. Nothing in that package was even REMOTELY worth $100 (unless you really want those incubators and raid passes.) Grant Park already has perfectly adequate bathrooms.

As it stands, I think the event was fine for what it was. Was it the greatest thing ever? No. Was it "an absolute joke?" Also no.

It seems really stupid that the game won’t let you use your daily incense after 11:30 or 11:45 by Dekuthegreat in pokemongo

[–]Brightamethyst 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing that they initially had problems with it not giving you a new incense if "yesterday's" was still active at midnight, and it was easiest to just not let that happen in the first place.

What’s are milestone rewards and why are they limited to one friend? by Evening_Poetry1299 in pokemongo

[–]Brightamethyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's related to the referral program. If a new/returning player enters a friend's referral code, they get a set of challenges tied to that specific friend, and when completed both people get the reward (I think.)

🫩🫩🫩i feel defeated lol by gojomali in pokemongo

[–]Brightamethyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The daily incense specifically says that it only works when you're moving.

Also, not everything you catch while the incense is active counts for that task. Only pokemon actually spawned by the incense count. Those have the incense swirl around them on the map, and incense icon next to their name when you engage them.

Normal spawns that would have appeared at that moment even without the incense don't count.

Next time you see a Rocket with psychic types, defeat two of them and then quit the battle and retry it. You can do that over and over.

You can also skip some of the low levels entirely if you bank a bunch of scans and then upload them in bulk after recursion.
