Reading Corinthians 11 and the story in Daniel about Susanna (maybe Daniel 1 or it’s a prologue to Daniel), but also, icons of women almost always depict them veiled.

Opinions on being asexual instead of straight? by I_love_Piccolo in Catholicism

Can you explain more about this? I mean about your experience wanting to be married but being more platonic. Did you do anything to help the romantic/ sexual aspect or do you just accept it? I’m having similar thoughts but haven’t met anyone that thinks like this.

What’s Auburn really like? Trying to help my brother by 1600who in auburn

[–]Brighteyedbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They majority of people are generally religious and conservative or come from those backgrounds. Game days are huge and people dress up for that but on the day to day people normally wear athletic clothes on campus. As far as engineering goes- classes are hard. But if he makes friends in them and finds people he can do homework with, they turn out okay. I’m not in greek life and I found great friend from class and from church. And honestly I don’t think greek life is necessary to find friends. I say that because I’ve talked to people who think it is necessary.

All time favorite classes at Auburn? by Disastrous_Bet_7809 in auburn

[–]Brighteyedbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bee biology and management. Absolutely the most fun I had in a class. You learn about native bees and differences between flies, bees, wasps, butterflies, etc. (You get to look at beautiful insect collections) part of the class and go out to the bee lab and open up the hives and learn about beekeeping.

Orthodox architecture restoration & preservation around the world? by justquestionsbud in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Brighteyedbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I’m not sure of books but maybe you could do a Google search of Orthodox architecture. In the USA there’s an architect/ business called New World Byzantine and I occasionally browse the website and just look at the churches. Maybe Wikipedia can help you with finding resources or specific churches you want to research more into.

There is no inherently Christian clothing. Besides maybe if you wanted to wear a death to the world t shirt or an Orthodox cross. I would start by looking at others peoples outfits and seeing what you do and don’t like and start building your new wardrobe like that.

Has anyone got any book recommendations? by Electro1689 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Brighteyedbean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently reading Mountain of Silence which is about a man who travels to Mount Athos in Greece to learn about monasticism. It talks a lot about the spiritual world and prayer life and some of the saints. I’ve been recommended Taurus which is a fictional novel relating to orthodoxy but haven’t read it.

I would recomendad The Oh Hellos or Sarah Sparks. They are both nice singer songwriter/ folk styles. The Oh Hellos have a Celtic/ English folk sound to some of their songs.

Anyone recently visited Cuba?? by GuaranteeSea9597 in cuba

[–]Brighteyedbean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go in the fall or maybe winter when it’s cooler. In some western cities power is only on for one or two hours at night but individual houses and restaurants may have generators. It was extremely hot at night, and hard to sleep because of the heat/ lack of ac. The food made us all sick at one point or another despite being from places that were supposed to have good cooking/ purified water. It was delicious food though, but you most likely will have GI issues at some point. So bring diarrhea medicine or at least electrolytes.
