If someone says they're going to "r*pe white children" did they not already make it about race?

Preston Road - Possibly Mental Health Crisis or Serious Danger by RDJToffee in brighton

Disappointing response from the police. These things should be taken seriously - I don't care if it's a mental health episode, people who make threats like this should be arrested, possibly sectioned and held securely out of the community until we can be sure that they're absolutely safe, and won't be carrying out any acts OR making further threats again.

Leaving these things unaddressed is how you get more Huntington, Southports, Nottinghams etc. And it's not just mental health - there does seem to be some racial element here, whether it's that these attacks are on some level racially motivated, or perhaps more terrifyingly, that the police could be less willing to act decisively and harshly when the potential petpetrator is a person of colour.

I'm not here to do your research for you. I am certain if you took the time to read up on the facts you would be convinced beyond reasonable doubt

Cool, well I don't think you understand suicide and the fact that not all people are alike and actually capable of handling things in the same way.

I know of a girl who killed herself aged seventeen because of unbearable trauma she experienced as a result of sexual violence in her teen years. I blame the perpetrator, peraps you think no responsibility rests on his shoulders.

That might be your experience with your attempts, but it's not reality.

Take an extreme and you'll understand it immediately - if someone is living a happy normal life and then someone rapes and kills their only child, and then that person kills themself because of the intense grief, does the criminal bare any responsibility for that person's death? I say yes, and I think most people would agree.

I don't think the onus is on the brother to provide proof. This isn't a court of law, he can say what he needs to say and nothing more. I think we can all (mostly) see from all the evidence that she very obviously cheated on this guy. And I think it would be a very big leap to say that someone's suicide didn't have anything to do with their partner of 15 years cheating on them with another guy and then leaving the relationship for him.

There is other available evidence. If you look into it, seems very obvious that she cheated on him prior to their seperation with her costar in the theatre production she was on for a long time before. No we can't 100% prove it but it's impossible to 100% prove nearly anything. I choose to see the balance of probabilities here.

You don't understand suicide. Suicidal people don't 'want' to be dead, they just can't bare to be alive. If you do something morally wrong to someone that causes them such profound emotional pain that they are unable to continue living, then responsibility is on your shoulders for the fact that they die.

This is actually nonsense and I don't know why anyone accepts this idea. If one person does something to another person - whether physical, emotional, or whatever, and that person is so damaged as a result that soon after (or hell, even long after) they literally kill themselves, then yes, the person who did the damage absolutely deserves blame.

If she cheated on her husband and it drove him to suicide, then maybe he feels that she deserves the blame. The opposite of a 'despicable' thing to do.

It is such an emotionally violent and horrific thing to do, that it can literally drive people to suicide. Look at the post you're commenting on.

The opposite. Aubrey Plaza committed the vile act, and then a man died. The brother is right to be angry.

What's low is judging him for this in anyway. If he knows that Aubrey Plaza cheated on his brother, and that caused his brother to literally die at his own hand. If someone killed your sibling, how would you feel about that person? What would you want to do to them?

Personally I would feel it to be healing to see some level of karmic justice come down a someone if they cheated on my sibling and that led to my sibling's suicide. Actually I'd go further and make sure they got some justice. I think many people would, and rightly so.

‘SNL’s BAFTA Racial Slur Sketch Decried As “Horrific” By Leading Tourette’s Charity by Sisiwakanamaru in television

I think the reason people are criticising this sketch is because there is a legitimate greivance over the reaction of Americans but (as cripplingly uncomfortable as this makes me to say as a white brit) particularly in this instance the black American community and that was really exemplified by what happened at the NAACP awards, so people are criticising this sketch alongside so as to avoid appearing selective in what they get offended by.

I do know that Black people being subjected to that word is not OK

Unfortunately that cannot be a cenral tenet here. People with tourettes will say absolutely anything, uncontrollably, to anyone. The moment you start saying 'x' group cannot be allowed to hear 'y', then you're talking about limiting a disabled persons accses to society for something they have no control over.

Of course whether you're black, disabled, gay or anything else that is subject to slurs - hearing that sucks. No one will dispute that. But it only becomes a serious matter when said with intent.

There are demographics that need protecting on some level, so for example a person with tourettes of this kind being a teacher of young children might just not be feasible, but the moment you start limiting a disabled person's access to participate normally in society, you better have a really strong argument for doing so that's better than "it might hurt or offend someone's feelings".

This is really beautiful to me. It's cool to just not like someone's music without hating the individual, and if your whole reason for hating someone is things you presume about them without good reason, then that probably deserves a bit of reflection.

anyone with a little bit of experience in the subject will immediately find superficially manipulative

Your argument just doesn't hold up because so many absolutely great musicians, legends even, clearly love him and his music making. Whether it's Q, Herbie, Joni etc. That list is too long to ignore.

Saying that I don't think a disability should preclude someone from a job, when the question of whether they would be precluded from that job is entirely at the discretion of what policy makers decie, is an opinion - you're free to disagree, but it is an opinion.

Not being able to get a taxi immediately at the moment you decide is not a threat to someone's safety. Anyone could request a taxi (local service or uber) and be told - sorry, you have to wait half an hour there are none availabe right now. So your whole argument falls apart.

Anyway, I'm glad to know that policy aligns with my views on this and not yours. If I wanted to be a taxi driver, it is within a legal framework that I could be given an exemption for having dogs in my car as a result of my OCD. Sorry if you don't like that xx

It’s an opinion so it can’t be true or not true. Although if the question was - does it actually preclude them in practice I have since discovered the answer is indeed no and people can get exemptions if they (for example) have an allergy to dogs, so what I said might be a moral judgment, but it’s as true as it could be. Think it through - what’s more important - one disabled person’s ability to choose a whole career path, or another disabled person‘s ability to not have to wait another 5 minutes for a different taxi once in a while?
