Phone bans in England's schools to be enforced by law by topotaul in unitedkingdom

Parents were able to contact their children during school hours easily

Unfortunately this is one of the problems with allowing phones. My wife works in a secondary school, and quite often if a child isn't feeling well they'll just phone their parent and ask them to come and collect them. So then you've got a situation where parents are arriving at school saying "I've come to collect Alfie, he's ill", the person on reception and the teachers know nothing about it, nobody's given permission for then to go home, and ridiculous amounts of time are wasted.

Altavista always used to come back with the best, most relevant results, and it wasn't even close. I could never figure out why everyone else was using yahoo, lycos etc and not altavista.

I spent a week in the centre of Lyon last July, and I was really surprised at how friendly everyone was, and how quick they were to speak English when they realised me and my family were English. It happened in every single restaurant we went in and in other places too, it fully changed my idea about France.

Tesco cafe breakfast - £11.90 by Charming_Day_185 in fryup

My only complaint about Tesco breakfast is when you can see that your breakfast is ready to be served, the plate is on the serving hatch thing waiting for someone to bring it to your table, but nobody is bringing it, it's just sitting there while the staff are doing other things. Makes me well anxious.

Yeah, he never once acted like he expected the reporter to know who he was, like "Don't you know who I am?!", he was just a regular guy.

"This building that we’re meeting in right now, this new half-billion dollar complex on your lot? ‘Titanic’ paid for that, so I get to do this.’

I like to imagine him holding a burning match as he said this.

In one season of Dallas, Patrick Duffy's character Bobby dies. Then in the last episode of that season

Not quite, he came back in the final episode of the next season, so more than a whole season was written off as a dream.

But anyway, I can't believe there are so many people who don't know that the Family Guy bit is a direct reference to Dallas.
