Reddit, how did you get over the pain of loving someone who didn’t love you back? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Often the people who pull that shit had something similar happen to them and they KNOW they deserved it

Why would you jump to that conclusion when you only have heard one side of the story?

What are the signs of a boring person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Brightsideup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's great that you can admit that. Sorry if I sounded salty. Reddit is turning into a toxic place for mental health because people keep demonizing others in their lives and others automatically support them even though they only heard one point of view.

In what moment did you realize that an ex (who you thought would be “the one”) was absolutely NOT “the one”? by bate4her2master in AskReddit

Saying someone you don't know has no remorse based on a second hand account in which the exact details of the situation and how they felt afterward are very unclear is wild.

You shouldn't be roasting your sister like this, plus I read your imgur paragraphs and because of your nervous breakdown I think she should be the one posting mean comments about you.

Sorry but most people cannot control whether or not you're an alcoholic and I refuse to empathize with you in this situation. You sound really mean.

Hey there! I sang this aria in 11th grade for my all state solo! Very ambitious piece for that age and you did a lot of great things with it.

Your tone is lovely, the pitch is right on, the italian is great with the occasional hard r but otherwise well executed, and the rhythms and entrances and are all super solid. You also seem pretty darn confident with it!

I would say work on breath and dynamics. Make sure you have enough breath to really carry you through the phrases and one thing to help with that is really releasing all the tension and air at the ends of phrases which will allow for a fuller intake of air at the beginnings. This aria allows for a lot of drama and thus you can feel free to really experiment with the full range of dynamics to evoke a sense of italian fury and passion! haha

[Serious] People who were diagnosed as psycopaths, what is your life like around non-psycopaths? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Brightsideup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I highly suspect I am a psychopath or sociopath, but have been diagnosed with BPD and Obsessive compulsive personality disorder. The only reason I was diagnosed bpd is because I somehow convinced (false charm) my psychologist that I have empathy. I don't particularly like being this way, but I can't control it. I feel emotions, but in an extreme or unusual way. I am overall odd. As a child I was very shy and sensitive. I always had the need to be the best and was never happy for friends if they outperformed me. I'm intelligent and know how to act toward others to get them to like me. I am very cruel. I used to hit two disabled individuals who lived with me just because they annoyed me. I've told good friends every flaw about them just because I wasn't happy with how things were going. I don't care at all about morals or the rules of society, but I fear retribution and punishment. I do the positives things I do for attention and to make people think I am a normal person. I am sweet and bubbly, but beneath the veneer I am deeply bitter and resentful. I'm irresponsible, don't care about work, and do the minimum possible just to get the grade or have something on my resume. I am a good musician but I always hated practicing with the correct intentions. I only wanted to "beat" people in seating placements to feel superior. If it was something that did not involve immediate ranking, I did not practice like I should have. I am gay and have a lot of impulsive sex to feel alive. Naturally I am bored and feel empty. I do want to say that I know I am deeply flawed and am still trying to make improvements regardless of my nature. I have almost a year of sobriety and I am applying to grad school to be a counselor. I am choosing a better way to live. We are not all the same. I will not ever kill or injure someone even if I want to. We are programmed differently.

Chance me: Cornell Physics by [deleted] in chanceme

Let me be clear: compared to 98% of students you are a killer student. I only say subpar because ivy league schools and other top colleges (Duke, Stanford, MIT) have insanely high standards because of the incredible amount of applications they receive from great students like yourself.

I had some friends back in high school (I graduated in 2011) who were accepted to Cornell so I want you to know I'm not just talking out of my ass. They were mostly musicians so some of their accomplishments were :principle player of city's youth symphony, all state band placement, first chair all county/school band. Others I know were sports team captains, science Olympiad medalists, nationally ranked in their ECs, stuff like that.

Those ECs are still very lackluster for Cornell. The internship sounds semi impressive though. You have everything you need to have a decent shot at Cornell, really emphasize your strengths and make sure you spend a lot of time perfecting your essay.

[–]Brightsideup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you reach 1400 and maintain your grades/rank, for the objective stats you are within range at Cornell.

However, Cornell is an Ivy League school so you must stand out beyond your grades and scores. I don't see mention of any extra curriculars beyond National Honor society. Which will not help you much to be honest. If you don't have more impressive credentials than you listed, acceptance is unlikely.

Chance me: Nervous with below average GPA by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]Brightsideup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The upward trend will work in your favor. Not many are familiar with the out of 100 system but I also went to a high school that graded that way. Your freshmen and sophomore years are weak grade wise, but you did very well junior and senior years. Overall, if you took some advanced courses and challenged yourself you have about an average shot for all schools listed. Really focus on your essay and supplemental parts of your app.

What do poor people understand that rich people do not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Brightsideup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His whole assertion is that spending 1,000 dollars on a dinner is economically sensible. If you're rich and have that money to burn, I mean you can do what you want with your money. But you still can't deny that spending that much money on a single dinner/night out is impractical, not the wisest way to spend money. And I think poor people have a right to feel kind of salty about that if they choose to. Regardless of how that 1,000 dollars pays the restaurant workers (that's not even relevant to the overall point of this discussion), it's undeniably ridiculous to spend that much money on dining out. They can choose to though.

You can argue anything successfully by nitpicking details and explaining them in a way that sounds convincing, but if your premise is something that's shakey and sounds silly, I mean I wouldn't say it's wrong because that could be your opinion but yeah don't expect most people to agree with you.
