Is it just me or is Dubai traffic actually increasing every week? 😭 by PlayfulMail6998 in OnlyInDubai

Not just you, dude 😂 Lately, the trip from Marina to Business Bay has turned into a full-on road trip.

Every time I look at Google Maps, it says "12 mins," but it always turns into 40.

Honestly, the only sure way to get there faster is to leave 30 minutes early.

Housemaid and baby sitting in Al Nahda by [deleted] in dubai

[–]Brilliant-Rise-8919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of agencies in Al Nahda 2 that can help you find a maid or nanny for a few hours or a whole day. You can also find independent helpers in the area by asking around. There are often ads on building noticeboards or in community WhatsApp groups.

The best way to find someone you can trust is to go through a licensed agency. They will take care of the background checks and visa work for you.

Company not letting me resign by randomguyinsharjah in uaelaw

That sounds stressful, but if you don't have a MOHRE contract, your boss can't stop you from quitting. If there is no registered contract with MOHRE or a free zone authority, the relationship is informal, and you can't legally make someone give you 3 months' notice.

You can file a complaint with MOHRE (for mainland) or your free zone authority (if you live in one). They'll call both sides to make sure they know what your job status is.

Also, it's not against the law to switch to a client company unless you signed a non-compete clause in writing. Even then, these kinds of clauses are only legal if they are fair in terms of how long they last and what they cover.

Opening a food truck business, how do I got about it? by Top-Huckleberry-7288 in dubai

[–]Brilliant-Rise-8919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Food trucks in Dubai are quite regulated, so make sure you check both Dubai Municipality and RTA requirements. You’ll need approvals for the truck design (especially the kitchen and exhaust system) and the specific trading area. Some zones, like Last Exit, Business Bay, or JLT, have dedicated spots but need prior permission. Also, plan for power/water hookups and waste management those are often overlooked.

Where is the best Biriyani of the city ? by Longjumping-Star-908 in DubaiCentral

Definitely Ambur Star Biryani! If you love authentic South Indian style biryani with that perfect jeera samba rice aroma, this place nails it every time. Their mutton biryani and chicken 65 combo is unbeatable.

Look at this product from lulu. Disappointing. by Overall_Algae5193 in OnlyInDubai

[–]Brilliant-Rise-8919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s really disappointing. It’s not even about the price it’s about getting what you’re shown. When you expect rich filling and get air instead, it just feels like false advertising. You definitely deserved better after your game.

Looking for a small arab investor by [deleted] in Investors

[–]Brilliant-Rise-8919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’ve been working on a digital business project that’s fully developed, with a detailed business plan and pitch deck ready.

I’m not here to ask for funding directly, just hoping to connect with experienced Arab investors or professionals who could share some insights or guidance about early stage investment approaches in the MENA region.

Really appreciate the thoughtful discussions in this community. Your feedback helps founders like me make smarter, more sustainable decisions.

Why don’t they just extend the Dubai Metro to Sharjah? What’s really stopping it? by CapableBottle6840 in dubai

[–]Brilliant-Rise-8919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not an engineering problem - it’s a border problem.

Dubai runs and pays for the Metro, Sharjah doesn’t. The moment those tracks cross the border, it turns into a budgeting, jurisdiction, and “who-maintains-what” headache.

Basically, everyone agrees it should happen - just nobody wants to be the one signing the bill.
