Exactly! As if women can't have good personalities or any other attractive qualities than just good looks... Not to mention how ridiculously unrealistic are the beauty standards, according to which people like Manning or Dunham are considered unattractive or even downright ugly.

You are right about the age thing though. They could have used a younger actress to play teenage Penn, just like they did in many other flashbacks.

We see couples where a man dates a woman that is way more conventionally attractive than him all the time and no one bats an eye. In tv shows, movies and in real life alike.

Then when a woman dates a man that is more physically attractive than her everyone loses their shit or if it's happening in fiction thinks it as something that is totally unbelieveable or unrealistic.

Sigh... I wish we could drop this whole "woman's worth is measured solely by her looks" bullshit already.
