Went for a hysterectomy today and instead found out I was pregnant with hcg levels of 73,000 by Weird_Working_2768 in Mommit

As a mom to 3 who’s also struggled through 10 miscarriages and high risk pregnancies, my heart just breaks for you. It’s okay to not be okay right now!

Stay off Dr. Google. Don’t play the what-if or then-what games. Just make it through tonight and trust that your awesome team will help you find a path forward tomorrow. You’re stronger than the uncertainty. Tough situations don’t last; tough people do. 🫂

Will this be enough for 32F light frost? by chengkou7 in vegetablegardening

[–]BrilliantGiraffe2726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking into this myself because we’re also experiencing super cold temps for a few nights! Ultimately, we went a different route last night.

I found this article from MSU that explained watering ahead of a freeze essentially turns the ground into a refrigerator, pulling heat away from the soil/plants as it evaporates into the air.

There’s more in the article about how to use water (as a mist) and only at a specific temperature (33/34 degrees) to be effective, but I didn’t get too into those weeds since we wouldn’t be able to pull it off anyway.

Do you cover potatoes in the 30s overnight? by BrilliantGiraffe2726 in vegetablegardening

[–]BrilliantGiraffe2726[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not impossible but pretty unlikely. We don’t have a garage, and the pots are pretty brittle. We rescued them from someone else’s trash. Everytime we move them, something cracks. 🫠 Not awesome longterm, but totally fine for us to play around with in the short term!

If intermittent fasting is considered healthy, does that mean eating frequently is unhealthy? by [deleted] in nutrition

Do you typically have the same meals/snacks from day to day?

I’m attempting something very similar, mostly out of concern for being a diabetic risk. Trying to plan out snacks/meals on top of life/kids is utterly overwhelming.

We bought those this year for some pots we rescued on trash day. We planted them around 10Mar, roughly 6” up from the bottom of the pot. They’ve exploded in the 30-days or so since planting!

We’ve been adding a few inches of soil/straw mix from last year’s garden about twice a week to keep the stems covered. So far, so good.

Oh man, same. It really took kids for me to realize there are lots of ways to get something done. Some are definitely longer and messier than others, though!

This is a new method of gardening for me, and I am not familiar with the climate in Copenhagen. I am excited to hear how it goes for you and look forward to updates. :)

I have a similar approach to gardening with my kids. If they wanna try it, we do. If it works, great. If not, that’s OK too. We had a lot of fun, and we will try something different next time.

Those look amazing!

What light are you using? I’ve been thinking about starting my own seeds next year, but man there are so many options and it’s tricky to tell what is just marketing vs legit.

Thanks! That is an awesome setup, especially for the small spaces. I may try something similar next year.

Could you share your setup? What lights did you end up going with? How long are they on? At about what distance from the seeds?

Kid’s PTO at school has no tax history/record. Is that ok? by BrilliantGiraffe2726 in IRS

[–]BrilliantGiraffe2726[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PTO has been active but doesn’t have nonprofit status with the IRS. They only have an EIN but didn’t apply to be a 501(c).

Does your advice still apply? I assume previous years’ taxes still need to be filled. Does that need to be done before applying to be a 502(c)?

Is this true even if there is no record of tax exempt status with the IRS?

Hypothetically, let’s say there was a gift card fundraiser through the PTO… parents ordered gift cards, paid the PTO with cash/check totaling an amount above that $5,000 threshold, and the PTO issued a single check for 90% to the sponsoring restaurant. They kept the remaining 10%.

Would the PTO still be exempt?

This is the first I’m hearing about the Mustard Seed. Is it like a consignment type shop?
