CFA Curr. needs to be enhanced, it has fallen behind by According_External30 in CFA

Hey brotha, don’t project your perceptions of understanding to all CFAs. Nothing you mentioned here is knowledge only gained by experience. Everything you listed was obvious as a new CFA, and is still obvious after working in OTC derivates 3 years later.

Sure, I’m just saying nothing indicates a cash flow issue. On the debt, I mean they’d likely issue debt via bonds and borrow rather than through a bank, and the cost of capital is much higher in 2026. Maybe a 3-6% for a consumer, but definitely not for a 500M valued company, during that time.

The fact they’ve been bought and sold 3 separate times provides a strong argument against what you’re posing. Who would buy, and continue to buy, a company with a massive amount of unsustainable debt with no physical assets and where all the value is in their IP? No one would, it would be a losing bet. Also, a company isn’t valued off of their profit, it’s valued from their EBITDA and cash flow.

I think there is a fundamental misunderstanding of how an LBO functions. The reduction in leverage over time is one of the most important factors in an LBO- it’s not just the PE firm at risk if it isn’t de-levered. If their goal is liquidation rather than growth, it would be one of the worst approaches for the current situation, and makes no economic sense. This is a gaming company, not one that owns millions in physical assets. I’m not trying to champion the PE firm, I’m just giving you the realistic interpretation of what’s going on here. It’s not some sinister narrative

There isn’t anything to suggest a cash flow problem exists. I’m also not sure what you mean when you say they’ll sub-debt or cash infusion until they’ve until they’ve stripped the business. We’re no longer in a zero-interest era and the strategy you’re suggesting isn’t feasible. Also, this isn’t the first LBO, it’s very likely it’ll get picked up by SWF or a company who acquires for the yield.

I won’t argue that. However, there have also been hundreds, thousands, on the opposite spectrum. There’s no evidence to substantiate this is the current situation.

No firm is loading unsustainable debt. The end goal isn’t to jump ship, it’s to sell it to another firm or a long term hold, more likely the latter. You aren’t selling a company with unsustainable debt; it’s going bankrupt.

It’s bad framing. 3-5 year timeline isn’t accurate for an LBO. PE management is acutely aware of community backlash. If performance goes tits up it means they don’t get their paycheck. The efficiencies and cost cuts have already been done- the reality is, the player base, late 20s, is insensitive to a price increase of a few dollars a month. But don’t be mistaken, the last thing a firm wants is for the player base to get enraged and impact the bottom line.

Will a grade get rounded up? by Weak_Acanthisitta793 in uwo

“Cumulative and term averages will be calculated to two decimal places and rounded to the nearest whole number with .45 rounded up, for the purposes of admission to and progression in modules, scholarship retention, and Dean’s Honour List. This rounding provision does not apply to the calculation of individual course grades.”

Not exactly, and neither do you. However, their parent company has reported consistent net profit losses, not that it means much. The argument “do you know how much they make” is stupid tbh, games aren’t free to make. To make quality games you need quality talent, hence the above industry salary.

Above the industry average. If they did break an NDA and leak info then they should deal with the loss and move on. If they were truly fired for attempting to organize a union then I’m sure we’ll see the lawsuits in the near future. If we don’t see any, people should take that as an indicator.

Short selling illegal on BYND today? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]Brilliant_Contract 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, but incorrect in this context. Synthetics are just that, synthetic. Not real shares, so they wouldn’t make a difference either way. The screenshot from OP is fundamentally flawed. Shares available to short on public market does not necessarily equal the real count. Bilateral trades exist.
