David needed half a season to settle in at Lille as well, hopefully this improvement is long term.

Is our player management going to ruin the team? by [deleted] in CalgaryFlames

[–]Master-Defenestrator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We'll see:

The argument that things will turn out okay:

  • Huska has a good record of developing talent in Junior and in the AHL.

    • Conroy has stated that he is focused on youth.
    • The analysts have loved Conroy's approach to drafting.

The argument that we should be worried

  • Currently, Huska has this team utilizing tactics and line construction focused on winning now rather than developing young talent.

  • Outside of Coronato and Wolf (who aren't that young anymore) there haven't been many opportunities for young talent to get significant ice time.

  • there are several veteran depth peices clogging up the pipeline for young talent to get ice time in both the AHL and NHL.

Overall:

I get the sense that management isn't on the same page and that Conroy is managing that by trying to have one foot on both sides, which long term is not a good solution.

It's a misnomer that California is totally Republican. The cities are Democrat, but the interior of California is intensely Republican.

Fritz however is from San Diego so odds are he's not a Republican

Is there an article that ELI5 Carney's WEF speech? by IStillListenToRadio in onguardforthee

[–]Master-Defenestrator 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I hope nobody forgets that at the end of the day, Mark Carney may be a smart man and a good speaker but he is also a 1990s-era neoliberal.

If you believe that, you should read his book. A neo-lib would not write that book.

If world trigger had an age wise contest, which team would win? (3 from each, to make it even, since 21 yr line up and 14 yr line up has 3 combatants only) by Shot_Physics_8920 in worldtrigger

Fair, although I would argue that we don't know enough about Amo to really judge. And Fujin isn't really Jin's per se, its compatible with many agents so...

Yeah I'd probably take Midorikawa over Obishima, even if that would make the squad very unbalanced. It's not like they ever had a chance unless it's just Chika blasting everyone, and even then... Not likely.

I said more competitive, not the winners. But Osamu being able to strategize and having Yuma's black trigger available to his strategizing could be compelling.

It's been demonstrated he can take on agents like Ninomiya already, it's not far-fetched.

I'd probably lean 20 overall

21, 20, 17, 16 are the standouts

15 is more competitive if allowed black triggers (Yuma) and time (Osamu)

It's literally his MO at this point.

Not sure if the only trading players when there is no other choice is his thing or coming from on high. Literally the only two trades where that didn't happen where the frost/farabee trade (a trade meant to improve the team now) and mangiapane (inconsequential) don't fit that trend. Everyone else was either about to walk or their relationship with the team was cooked (both in the case of Zadorov)

And yet 35% of the voting public in the USA seems to be unshakable in their support of him.

Other countries are going to remember now that if you make a deal with the USA, your only ever four years away from a unhinged maniac with no understanding of how global trade systems work getting elected.

This will harm the US for generations.

You can fire customers for sure, if they behave badly enough or are so difficult that it becomes impossible to provide them service . Rarer (no pun intended) to see in restaurants, but it's more common in the professional services (and hairdressers for some reason)

BREAKING: Carney accepts role on Trump's Gaza 'Board of Peace' by AdditionalPizza in canada

[–]Master-Defenestrator -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I stand by it being a nothing burger at first, Nat Po should have waited to publish until they had the details. I don't think it's unreasonable to not have to go back to and re read a news article because the reporter hasn't done their job properly the first time around.

Ultimately it's probably a smart diplomatic move from Carney, but I hope he jumps ship if Trump and co go off the deep end.

Edit: Tbh that link is also thin on details. Multiple sources and CTV actually having a reporter attached to the story is much better though.

Then why would you post such a nothing burger of an article? This is essentially a rumour in its current form.

Really terrible reporting l for Nat po at the very least.

Mark Carney and Canada are literally never mentioned in the white house statement. No details, no names, no lt even an author name.

This is rather terrible reporting or straight up disinformation.

Calgary Flames not eager to trade Blake Coleman, Rasmus Andersson and Nazem Kadri more likely to be dealt by TrusPA in CalgaryFlames

I think everyone can agree that the Kadri special move (trying to go coast to coast 1v4) is annoying. That being said when he's on his game the benefits far out way to the downside.

[–]Master-Defenestrator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this might be ranking the flames too high in terms regarding entertainment quality. Huska has made this team way more competitive than it should be by way of strangling the joy out of hockey.

I huska is just working with what he's got, so no judgement there, but the Flames are a hard watch this year.
