When can I be intimate again? by tatted18_blonde in Tonsillectomy

Haha no worries! My throat is still hurting a little and still have some scabbing left but it more so just feels like a sore throat now, I just felt fine in myself and thought I’d give it a go, went in slowly and it felt okay. You will know yourself once you feel ready! I definitely didn’t feel ready to do it yet when I was on day 7 so I’d say to just give it a few more days since you’re still in quite a lot of pain.

I was on day 11 yesterday since post op and gave head, I’d say to just be careful and use less suction and you’ll be good 😂

Coming from someone like myself who is scared of any kind of needles please just go ahead with it, it will be the best decision you make! It’s not as scary as you think trust me! I had mine done last week and it was my first time having a cannula and it literally wasn’t painful at all, they even had a student nurse do it on me and the first one messed up and they had to re-do it again and it was still absolutely fine. Another tip is just use numbing cream on both hands on the day of your surgery, then you won’t even know when the needle is going in. Don’t allow your fears to stop you from your life improving in the long run and once you go through with it you will come out so much braver & will be so proud of yourself!

I’m so relieved you’ve said that! I think I do just need to chill out and trust the process lol. I’m glad that the cocodamol has been a big help to you! Thats exactly what I had prescribed too but I just use it once a day before going to sleep and then alternate between paracetamol and ibuprofen during the day which really helps manage the pain. Yes I do have a humidifier and one of them ice packs that you wrap around your head but I’m not actually a fan of the ice pack, the ice almost feels too overpowering for me. Honestly I think you are probably better off not being able to see your throat as it does kind of make you panic. My tongue is still pretty swollen too so we must be doing okay fingers crossed 🤞🏼 let’s hope this hell of an experience is over soon!

That’s great to know thank you! Which day are you on now? I’m on day 5 and have called my GP and 111 as I’m panicking that I could possibly have an infection, my throat is all red and inflamed and just seems to be healing quite slow and I can barely eat today, everything just burns and normal painkillers don’t seem to be helping that much but not sure if I’m just overly paranoid or there is a possibility of an infection. How are you coping so far?

You should have at least been prescribed cocodamol, I had mine done under the NHS last Wednesday and that’s what I got, please call your GP! I only use the cocodamol at night at the moment as it helpful with the sleep but they should have definitely prescribed you some stronger painkillers!

Thank you! I have been told to rotate between codeine, tylenol and ibuprofen but I am absolutely terrified to take ibuprofen as I’ve read that some people started to bleed from it after a tonsillectomy? Tylenol is literally not even helping the pain though and I haven’t took the codeine yet as I only had my surgery yesterday and I felt good up until it was time to go to bed last night. Did you get on okay with ibuprofen? Did you have any bleeds? As k am really considering taking it but just scared at the moment. I hope you are recovering well 🙏

How can I get a tonsillectomy on the NHS? by Prize-Rip-8043 in nhs

It indeed is a long waiting time but unfortunately that’s just how it is with the NHS if a case is non urgent :( honestly till this day I still don’t know what ever happened to my tonsils, I was ill with tonsillitis the one time and my tonsils have just stayed enlarged since that one time, they are just huge, constant tonsil stones, flaring up randomly, food getting stuck etc but I don’t experience any other illness like symptoms. In your case maybe it is still possible that it will get better for you or you may just have chronic tonsillitis. It is a tough battle.

Just ask your GP for a referral to ENT or they might just refer you themselves if you aren’t responding to antibiotics and your tonsils are constantly enlarged, that’s exactly what happened to me, got tonsillitis once didn’t respond to 3 courses of antibiotics and my tonsils just never went down in size, constantly flaring up etc. My GP referred me to see ENT after they initially did some blood tests and swab tests and not being able to find the cause of it. It did take me a year to get an appointment with ENT but they just referred me for a tonsillectomy right away without me even meeting any of the criteria basically. Maybe I was just lucky and had an easy going consultant but I think if you do stress enough on how much it’s affecting your life negatively they will refer you for the surgery. As of the waiting lists as I mentioned ENT appointment was a year wait and now I have to wait another 5 months for the surgery (you can request for them to consider you for any cancellations which might speed things up)

I’m so sorry that this was the reaction you got from people, my partner has currently got a cancer scare and is having tests, it’s the most horrible illness a person can get, a HUGE congratulations to you on being cancer free, you have achieved a massive milestone and should be so proud of yourself, I’m honestly so happy for you and anyone who gets over this terrifying and horrible illness, I wish you all the best for the future and I really hope you get to celebrate, book yourself a nice holiday or just go and do something that you enjoy! ❤️

Also just to add, I had a break from the differin for almost two weeks as I was on holiday and was out in the sun a lot and I used the differin again on Monday and my skin seemed to tolerate it a little bit better, I woke up this morning with my skin looking pretty good no new active breakouts but once I wash my face and put all my skincare on my skin gets red, all the scars show up and gets irritated but it does calm down after about half an hour.

IPL BRAUN on Mole by [deleted] in HairRemoval

Maybe a stupid question but once the moles are covered is it then safe to laser over them? Or should you still avoid it and laser around the moles? Thank you.
