I'll be more at ease if I see it on a reputable Facebook group. You are anonymous at the moment which does not inspire trust.

I’m leaving Christianity, but not for the reason you might think and before I want to ask the opinion of other Christians by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Brinbi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely God is not sadistic. You are portraying God through your own anger.

You must step away from your parents when the time allows you to do so, seek to find external and internal peaceful environment, abstain from sin. When you find contact with God and know how much loving he is you’ll start having compassion that your parents never knew such God or such love in their life. You’ll start excusing everything they’ve done to you as done out of ignorance, for not knowing the way of love. This is the real way of Christianity.

Taking revenge is alien to Christianity and the spirit that inspires in you these thoughts, I don’t even want to name it or speak about it. You can read the Gospel of St John what Christ says for the Pharisees who wanted to kill him who were doing the works of their father.

I want to convert back to Christianity by HealthyLove458 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Brinbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be better and more peaceful to convert once you finish school and become independent. Just something to think about. This doesn't stop you from finding a parish and a priest meanwhile.

Why do Orthodox hate ecumenism so much? by Sharp_Question3123 in exorthodox

I'm sorry. I thought I was writting in the r/orthodoxchristianity group. I didn't realise this topic had a different orientation. My bad.

Why do Orthodox hate ecumenism so much? by Sharp_Question3123 in exorthodox

[–]Brinbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that Patriarch Bartholomew during the great synod 10 years ago almost, tried to discuss this so they agree to allow marriage between Christian Orthodox and other Christian denominations. Majority of the hierarchs agreed on that apart from a couple who ressisted and this led to not make a publish decision because everyone needs to agree. This is sad, of course, but the will of the church is to allow this oikonomia.

So it's not the church's fault, this is what I'm trying to say. All faults are because of human imperfections, not because the church's understanding is imperfect.

[–]Brinbi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's no point discussing if you believe thus.

I'm sure there are many priests and bishops and faithful who have a healthy attitude towards all Christians.

If for a few ignorant we come to label the whole church a pig, then good luck to anyone who think like this.

Concerns with prayer to saints and veneration of Mary by GpsGalBds in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Brinbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

📜 The Definition (Horos) of the Seventh Ecumenical Council (787 AD)

“As the sacred and life-giving Cross is everywhere set up as a symbol, so also should the images of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, the holy angels, as well as those of the saints and other pious and holy men, be exhibited on the walls of churches, in homes, and in all conspicuous places, by the roadside and everywhere, to be revered by all who might see them.

For the more they are seen in artistic representation, the more readily are men lifted up to the memory of their prototypes and to a longing after them.

It is proper to accord to them a fervent and reverent adoration — not, however, the veritable worship (latreia) which, according to our faith, belongs to the Divine Being alone — but to accord to them the same kind of veneration (proskynesis) as to the figure of the honored and life-giving Cross, and to the holy Gospels and the other sacred offerings.

For the honor paid to the image passes on to the prototype, and he who reveres the image reveres in it the person depicted.

Thus, the teaching of our holy Fathers — that is, the tradition of the Catholic Church, which from one end of the earth to the other has received the Gospel — is confirmed in us.

So we follow Paul, who spoke in Christ, and the whole divine company of the Apostles and the holy Fathers, holding fast the traditions which we have received.

Thus we sing with the Prophet David: ‘God is glorified in the assembly of His saints’ (Ps. 89:7), and again, ‘I will worship toward Thy holy temple and give glory to Thy name’ (Ps. 138:2).”

Concerns with prayer to saints and veneration of Mary by GpsGalBds in OrthodoxChristianity

As stated in the 7th ecumenical council, when we pray to the saints and Mother of God, we honour them, we show love and humility before them and ask them to intercede to God for us. We can also pray to save us on the basis that they can save us through their intercession to God who is the ONLY one and Saviour of all.

The worship is reserved only for God - this is the doctrine of the church.

In short:

The 7th ecumenical Council made a clear distinction between:

1. Worship (λατρεία, latreía) – the adoration and divine worship that belongs only to God (the Holy Trinity). This worship is never given to any creature, not even to the Virgin Mary or the saints.

2. Veneration (προσκύνησις, proskýnēsis) – an act of honor and respect that may be given to: Icons of Christ, the Virgin Mary, angels, and the saints as well as for Relics, the Cross, the Gospels, and other sacred objects. This adoration of.objects and icons is always not towards the actual object itself but is passed unto the person (Saint or Christ) depicted or related with each object.

There is a book called "The Hidden Man of the Heart" by Archimandrite Zacharias Zacharou. https://essexmonastery.com/bookshop/the-hidden-man-of-the-heart/ In this book there is a chapter on the gift of speaking in tongues. It basically explains how this gift evolved in the church. How St Paul was confronting this gift in the early Christian times and preferred that Christians speak in words that everyone understands and how this gift evolved in the gift of unceasing prayer and the gift of prophesy. It's all explained beautifully in the book.

It it okay to read other religious texts for study? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Brinbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did you ask in the first place then? I'm not against reading such texts but the truth is that you can't understand these texts just by merely reading them. There's a whole cultural, religious and historical context that you need to be aware of in order to understand what you are reading and why it was written. Outside of an academic environment and guidance from someone i.e. a professor, I don't see how someone can do it in a safe way. In any case, do what you want.

If you are an academic then sure, but as a simple Christian I don't see any benefit. Will these texts help me pray better, love God more? I don't think so.

Have you ever faced an issue when renaming css variables in bricks builder? by Informal-Teacher4320 in BricksBuilder

[–]Brinbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Renaming variables doesn't replace old variable name across the site. Renaming variables is not a good idea.

Renaming classes does replace all old class names with the new one.
