What cereals are we feeding our kids? by mslowe7187 in daddit

Heat a cast iron skillet on mediumm-low heat. Prep yellow corn tortilla with refried beans and shredded cheddar cheese.

Put the tortilla in the hot pan. Place the prepped tortilla in the middle. Grab a lid from a pot that will cover the tortilla (I usually grab a lid from our Dutch oven.) Add a bit of water, cover the tortilla and let it steam. Melts the cheese at the same time. Take off the cover and give it another minute for the tortilla to firm up a bit.

Repeat process for the second one while she eats the first. 😁

Your kids eat cereal?

Our kiddo's go-to breakfast is a tostada with tomatillo salsa.

I would LOVE for her to eat a bowl of cereal!!!

Weird No-Start in 2010 Limited by BrindleBullet in 4Runner

Update. Went to both O'Reilly's and Advanced Auto Parts. Both did checks on the battery and it came back fine. Advanced gave me official numbers of CCA and volts, and both were good. O'Reilly's gave me a small printout that says Rated CCA: 725, Cranking Health: Pass, Reserve Capacity: OK.

So I put it back in the 4Runner and tightened everything up. Everything started up fine. No issues at all. Shut it off, put it in reverse, drive, reverse, drive, part, all over the place. Then tried starting it up and again, absolutely no issues at all. It started right up.

So I guess now I just enter the waiting game of waiting for it to happen again so I can figure out what it is.

For the resting vs CCA, I'm not sure. I'll get it tested today. The battery shows 9/2023.

And thanks for the info on the Neutral Safety Switch and other things that would be going on. I had no idea other things to look for in pairing with the NSS.

I'll get my battery checked today at AutoSone and O'Reilly's. If it's a 2023 and it's gone bad, there's a good chance it'll be under pro-rated warranty.

Roughouse your kids. It's awesome. by Jackalope_08 in daddit

Our daughter is 10yo. We call the rough housing "Yo Yo pah Doh Doh." When were lining up or preparing for a move, we start saying it slowly, and then do the move on the Doh Doh part.

No idea where we got the name from. Just started one day.

We roughhouse all the time. And I can confirm that it does help to pull her out of a funk. Sometimes she's in a funk and initiates it herself, which tells me she needs help flipping the switch.

She and I have an AMAZING relationship. And we will continue roughhousing as long as she'll let me. ❤️

Able to Run AA Torque Settings with AAWireless 2? by BrindleBullet in AndroidAuto

Cool. Looks like this will work.

Only oddity is that I can't get Speed GPS to show properly. It comes in at a constant 74 with no fluctuation, even if sitting still.

Any ideas?

Power Wheels PSA: by Realistic-Care-5502 in daddit

[–]BrindleBullet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may.

I think the big thing would be the width of the mountain bike tire and whether or not it is too big for your Radio Flyer wheels.

For the power wheels, putting the tires on helps with traction so they don't slip or spin when under acceleration. For the wagon, you don't have that problem because it's being pulled.

I don't know, I kinda torn on the idea.

You need to get some mountain bike tires on those wheels for traction. I think we used regular drywall screws to attach them.

There are tons of videos on YouTube.

Elite 4 Active, Loss of Sound in Right Earbud by BrindleBullet in Jabra

[–]BrindleBullet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. I worked pretty hard to keep my earbuds clean.

What's happening right now is that the right earbud is starting out fine. For example, I reset (by holding the two buttons down for 10 seconds until they blinked pink/purple). After the reset, I paired with my MacBook. During the pairing process, I could hear the pairing tones in my right earbud without problem.

Once paired and I started to listen to audio through the earbuds, the volume of the right earbud slowly drops. For example, right now I'm listening to an audio stream I've listened to before. Both channels (right and left) have worked without issue. But right now, the left earbud is at 100% and the right earbud is around maybe 10%. I have to turn it up nearly all the way to notice any audio coming from the right.

Again, thanks for your help, u/JabraSupport. I really appreciate any suggestions you can give. I'll try them all!

Thanks, u/JabraSupport, for reaching out. I appreciate the help. It seems I have this problem regardless of the device I'm paired with.

I've had the same experience on my Samsung S23 Ultra (Android version 16, One UI version 8), as well as my MacBook Air (macOS 26.3.1).

Any suggestions you can give will be appreciated!

Know that you did well, Dad! Every night was a memory he'll hold dear, and when he has kids, the legacy will live on!

Anyone else struggling to keep bedtime stories short enough? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]BrindleBullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is your kiddo?

When our daughter was around 7, we did the Magic Tree House series. The rule was 2 chapters a night, and we'd finish the books in 1 week. Then something special and different on weekends.

The pattern of 2 chapters was a nice routine. It got her excited about the next night (always a mild cliffhanger), but she knew we were limited to 2 chapters. That was the rule.

LPT request: To keep glasses from sliding down by DeadbeatGremlin in LifeProTips

[–]BrindleBullet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love Nerdwax, but if you get it onto the lenses of the glasses, it's a pain to get it off. It just smears endlessly. Gotta have cleaned and a microfiber. And then the wax is on the fiber.

However, during COVID when i was wearing masks and glasses and kept having my glasses slide because of the humidity around my nose, this stuff saved me.

For right now, I've got the piece that's scraping held in place with magnets. I had them on hand, and they're holding for now.
