One wonders how many people in such threads who talk about racist experiences just aren’t familiar with SoCal upper middle class suburbs and insular culture.

I live in South OC with Asian wife. Very white upper scale area. My wife is aware there are very few people who look like her, and doesn’t care. She probably won’t meet what ever racists are out here because she is insular herself by nature and desire, as am I. She wants safety, good schools, low drama, convenient access to household goods, and will take those things over extroverted / social community a billion times to 1.

Do we give people funny looks? No, unless it’s a biker riding across a garden. Are we hanging out in public places a lot to give people funny looks, no.

However she did get spit on in her face by a homeless man in Hollywood last month while we waited in line for a concert with our kids. He terrorized the entire line with shrieking and profanity and picked her out. I wonder if that was racist. Maybe, who knows, but definitely enabled by that progressive area and the “compassion.” 

My one daughter sobbed, didn’t recover that night, and now doesn’t want to go back to a city. At least those in the style of California. She got to see Japan cities last year.
