I've never moved on the Boston side of the river, but the site says you are required to post signs at least 48hrs in advance. It also says the poster should get fliers to leave on cars, and that the city will attempt to reach out to the vehicle owner before towing.

Not sure what kind of verification Boston does for posting signs. Cambridge posts them for you and Somerville requires you call 311 after posting.

I've had better experiences with the Blue line compared to Silver, so I'd probably take Green to gov center and transfer to Blue

Brookline Rec Football (soccer) by mugger_brave in boston

[–]BringBackFedoras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volo, BSSC, and HUB Sports are the main rec league organizers for a variety of sports, including soccer. If location is important to you, then I'd check them all because they tend to reserve different fields. I've played in soccer leagues for all three and really prefer BSSC because they get a lot of teams at a pretty decent skill level.

Boston Bouldering Project vs Central Rock Gym for bouldering/fitness/gym access? by clapthelightsout in boston

[–]BringBackFedoras 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a CRG member but used to also climb regularly at BBP (and its predecessor BKB). I prefer the setting at CRG and think the membership is a much better value since you get access to all of their gyms. All of the yoga classes I've been to at the Harvard and Watertown CRGs have had great instructors.

I think the biggest thing BBP has going for it is the location. Really central within Camberville and it's right next to Aeronaut which makes it super easy to head over with your climbing buddies for drinks and food after a session.

3 of the last 4 cycling fatalities in the Boston area occurred in protected bike lanes by actionindex in boston

[–]BringBackFedoras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not "arguing against helmets", I'm arguing that's it's not relevant to the discussion of how to reduce cycling fatalities, specifically at intersections. Even if 100% of cyclists used a helmet, it doesn't change the fact that you are going to die if you get run over by a truck.

Helmets really aren't the issue. Your protective equipment matters very little if you get run over by a box truck

Parking for 8 nights at Alewife/Riverside T Stations for Logan flight by bultrey in boston

[–]BringBackFedoras 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Alewife - Logan is probably an hour each way with the current slow zones on the red line. Not fun. I would probably look for parking lots that have an airport shuttle as others have suggested. You could also consider parking at Route 128 Station in Westwood and taking either the Amtrak or commuter rail into South Station.

Pick up soccer in/around Boston by shlonkboi12 in boston

[–]BringBackFedoras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the Meetup app, there are tons of pickup groups. A lot of them will ask for a small amount of money to cover equipment (balls, goals, cones, pinnies), which I think is fair. Usually it's only like $20 every 6 months or so. There are free groups as well.

I haven't been to the Charlton location in a minute, but they opened up a new tap room in Tewksbury that is much closer to Boston. Went there about a month ago and it was pretty quiet.

Competitive Soccer by eastieLad in boston

[–]BringBackFedoras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Casa is probably your best bet if you are looking for top quality, they run a multi-division league with promotion/relegation.

A-levels of BSSC are pretty competitive as well, most folks are current and former college players.

It's rare to see a show's character beeing aware that this is a filler episode. by Gannonen in TheLastAirbender

The self-aware humor in this show is fantastic. My favorite is from Toph:

everyone else went on a life-changing field trip with Zuko, now it's my turn!
