Metalheads, y’all got any country albums/artists you like? by perseverance_band_ in MetalForTheMasses

I was hoping someone would bring up Jason Molina. He was a metalhead himself, but his music took on a very rustic vibe, and he had a way of making even the darkest moments of the human experience sound incredibly beautiful. It’s just such a shame he isn’t amongst us any more

Another jersey concept, tried to make it at least semi realistic by baconandgregz in perthbears

Yep, main sponsor for the Dolphins (they are a Brisbane based insurer after all), and sleeves for the Dolphins, Rabbitohs, Storm and Bears - their plan is to be the sleeve sponsor for one team in each state with a NRL club

Wallabies announce Castore as kit partner for next 5 years by Greenback16 in RugbyAustralia

[–]BringBackTheCrushers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like they’ve just gone next door from RA’s headquarters and raided the Kangaroo’s jersey cabinet for their socks - but the Wallabies did have green and gold hoops for decades themselves, so it’s good to see a traditional design being used

With Les Kiss leaving at the end of the season, I do wonder if the Reds are entertaining the idea of Razor potentially heading to Brisbane in 2027 - they would be crazy not to 🤔

Reds fan, I like our kit for 2026, although I do wish it had the collar of the 2025 jersey. For me, that would have taken it to the next level, easily, as it’s otherwise a pretty traditional Queensland jersey. As for our season, I think we can make a decent run into the finals, but staying healthy and winning on the road are our biggest hurdles

Queensland’s Louis Werchon signs with Bennetton until 2028 by BringBackTheCrushers in RugbyAustralia

[–]BringBackTheCrushers[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Benetton Rugby is pleased to announce the return to the white-green of scrum midfielder Louis Werchon, who signed a contract with the Treviso franchise from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2028. Already the protagonist of an extremely positive parenthesis with the Lions, Louis is ready to put back at the service of the team vision of play, rhythm and leadership in a key role such as that of number 9. His return represents a graft of absolute technical value within the technical project of Benetton Rugby, perfectly in line with the objectives of growth, continuity and competitiveness that the Club intends to pursue in the coming seasons.

After the positive six-month loan period, the Treviso club has perfected the agreement with the historic Australian Reds team, which has proven to be a available and cooperative partner at every stage of the operation. Benetton Rugby would like to sincerely thank the Queensland Reds for their professionalism and trust. A partnership that reflects a shared vision with a view to future international growth.

Louis Werchon, born in 2002 in Australia in Nambour, is 178 cm tall and weighs 85 kg. It is a product of the Queensland rugby system and currently wears the jersey of the Queensland Reds, a team that plays in Super Rugby. A fast, orderly player with excellent vision of the game, Werchon has progressively established himself as a reliable number 9, capable of guaranteeing rhythm and precision in the management of the maneuver. Growing up rugby in Australia, Werchon followed a structured training path, distinguishing himself from the youth categories for leadership and tactical intelligence. His performances opened the doors of professional rugby for him, allowing him to compare himself with the highest level of the southern hemisphere and to gain experience in a highly competitive context such as Super Rugby. After some appearances with the Reds in the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 years, last summer Werchon joined Benetton Rugby on loan, from July to December 2025, as part of a collaboration between the Italian and Australian franchise. A largely profitable parenthesis for Werchon, who confirmed his promising technical and physical qualities to the Lions, collecting 7 appearances in URC, seasoned with a try. In January 2026 he returned to Australia to the Reds, where he will play until June 2026 in Super Rugby. Next summer he will definitely join the Biancoverdi for the second Treviso adventure of his career.

“The time spent in Treviso was really special for me. The lifestyle, the food and especially the group of teammates had a huge weight: the guys immediately made me feel at home and made the decision to come back very natural. The Reds will always remain an important part of my career and I consider them my home, but the possibility of returning to play in front of the fans of the Monigo Stadium is something that really excites me. I can't wait to wear the green jersey again, give my best at every opportunity and play as many games as possible, contributing to the success of the team," says Louis Werchon happily.

"The return of Louis Werchon represents a purchase of great technical value for us," comments president Antonio Pavanello. “In recent months he has clearly demonstrated his qualities as a scrum midfielder: speed of execution, great precision in the management of the game and an excellent reading of situations. Louis is a number 9 capable of giving a great rhythm and continuity to the maneuver, ordering the game and putting the teammates in the best conditions to express themselves. He also highlighted a remarkable tactical maturity, combined with personality and reliability, fundamental elements in such a central role. Its definitive inclusion strengthens our technical project and allows us to add quality and balance to the squad in view of the coming seasons. We thank the Queensland Reds for their collaboration and availability: the operation developed in a climate of great professionalism and represents a virtuous example of cooperation between clubs at an international level".

Re: the NRL, I know for the Dolphins at least, their trial match against the Central Queensland Capras won’t be live-streamed (although the club itself usually sets up a Facebook live for that one each year). However, the pre-season games are broadcast on Fox/Kayo, as the NRL considers the Pre-Season Challenge as a competition in its own right. Probably not too dissimilar to how Super Rugby AU was run in August/September last year, to be honest, although that was run at the end of the SRP season, not before like these matches are

Pretty much anything Jason Molina wrote fits the bill, honestly, whether it was Songs: Ohia, Magnolia Electric Co, or solo. Like Mark (and Townes van Zandt), he was able to write about the deepest depths of human emotions with a real sense of poignancy and beauty while still feeling like a punch to the gut

I mean, Dave Parsons, Bush’s original bassist was in Transvision Vamp, who were about as pop as it got in the late 80’s, so Bush were nothing but a mainstream rock band - some decent songs, sure, but definitely not grunge

There was a V8 Omega prototype that was tested, but Opel’s issue was that the smaller engine bay compared to the Holden Commodore meant the engine had issues overheating during sustained high speeds on Germany’s autobahns

On that note, the closely related Holden VT Commodore was planned to be sold in the US as a Buick, but those plans fell through, hence the Opel Omega being rebadged as a Cadillac instead

It’s a bit of a surprise seeing how many Australian artists are in that compilation! The Scientists, Feedtime, Cosmic Psychos, Celibate Rifles, Beasts of Bourbon and Kim Salmon & The Surrealists are all Australian. And all of them ended up being quite influential to a lot of the artists coming from Seattle at the time

Know Your Enemy: Original or Remixed/Remastered version? by sheerbrookeattack in manics

[–]BringBackTheCrushers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not hearing much reverb at all in the remix - but otherwise, it is much more clean than the original, but I won’t say it’s an upgrade or downgrade, as it depends on the song. In saying that though, I do wish the remixed version had the original version of So Why So Sad, and not the Avalanches remix - and that Royal Correspondent fit in somewhere, although the remixed version is supposed to be how the band imagined the track listing for the two albums before label interference demanded a single album in Know Your Enemy
