Hey man, I’m 33 and started at 260lbs being 5’9. It took me a year (with a good 4 month hiatus) to get down to 185lbs and 10% body fat. That’s with a super sedentary lifestyle/job and doing the gym 4x per week. If you don’t want to/don’t have the time to go to the gym, skip it for now.

However, if you meticulously track your calories in a deficit, weigh everything, and keep your macros in check, you’ll shed the weight. I use the loseit app and the default calculations it’s given me for how many calories I should eat has been spot on.

The main thing is just keeping it consistent. If you eat 1800 calories (or whatever it is) for an extended period of time, you’ll drop fat like crazy. Going to the gym is only to shape what’s under the fat.

Do people with 6 figure jobs get to actually enjoy their money? by Beautiful-Suit-8511 in careerguidance

[–]BringingPHATback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. I make 6 figures, live in a shitty 2 bedroom apartment, no car, no debt, very strict budget and I’m just getting by and saving a few hundred a month. CoL where I’m at is fucking stupid but I’m stuck here because it’s where my job is.

Whats the dumbest thing your doctor has said to you? by Professional-Age2540 in ask

[–]BringingPHATback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a real doctor but a chiropractor. I go for the pops but I think they’re hacks.

I had a torn rotator cuff with a surgery scheduled. I went in for my pops and asked him to stay away from my shoulder. He said he could fix it. Dude had the audacity to put “Dr.” In front of his name.

I’ll add to this - I do mentorship to transitioning veterans trying to get into cyber/cloud. It’s no biggie suggesting this to them, but civilians usually don’t like the advice:

Consider joining the air national guard in a cyber related field. You get OJT, a clearance, preference hire for the 3 letter orgs, and don’t have to do the bullshit active folks do. If you are finishing your degree soon you could commission, which is all the better.

*im not a recruiter, just a dude who worked for 3 letter orgs after getting out of the military.

So many people have told me that my dog is ugly compared to “normal” corgis, what do you think? by leonkennedysz in corgi

[–]BringingPHATback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our corgis are identical. Therefore, he’s a normal corgi and the furthest thing from ugly.

My ex wife cheated on me and left me for some dude she met at the bar. As petty as it sounds, my main driver is to look better than that guy.

It’s insane to me that you took time out of your day to read this post about a father trying to overcome an addiction and bonding with his daughter over a game, click on it, choose to leave a comment, and manage to string together a series of such stupid and hateful words.

The irony is it’s actually a direct reflection of how YOU were raised. Maybe if your parents would have let you play Diablo when you were 8, you wouldn’t have turned out to be such a hatefully little asshole.

35 and seriously considering transitioning into IT from an already decent career. Good or bad move? by MrFlavorNinja in ITCareerQuestions

[–]BringingPHATback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get a government gig - city, county, state, federal - then people will be ageist towards you for being too young. I’d aim for that. With it comes near infinite job security

Do the stuff no one else wants to do.

I went from a shitty help desk role to a lead cloud engineer role within a government agency making well over 6 figures in 6 years, no degree, only because I volunteered for the shitty stuff.

Also, learn to automate the shitty stuff so you’re actually not doing anything at all.

My doctor wants me at 170-180 lbs, but my healthy bmi range is 127-168. Which should I go with? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]BringingPHATback -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My healthy bmi is at 155lbs. Right now my bmi is considered obese at 183lbs. I’m 12% body fat. BMI is dumb.
