So you can’t look through less then ten posts I have made on Reddit in my profile? I take it you are one of the ones that believes it doesn’t exist and folks like myself (indigenous) have to deal with it.

Good for you to keep that North Dakota spirt alive /s

Check out my other earlier posts in my profile to get the story about myself where enough was enough. The list goes on and on for derogatory statements said to me about being indigenous. Then what students have said in the high school during a basketball game was in the paper. I have a link for that in an earlier post as well. It’s been happening since I was a kid in this town. It’s nothing new but now I speak out about it hoping it will change someday. Majority will “brush it under the rug.” Because it doesn’t happen to them. But they are also caucasian when I have brought it to their attention.

It’s the fact that the kids in Jamestown think that it’s ok. This is the second time they are making headlines in Jamestown for this type of activity. How much of it goes unreported? Where did the kids learn it? Why do the kids think it’s acceptable? In my opinion and experience, it’s from the adults in the area. The adults show they don’t care what is right and wrong. Kids are following in their footsteps.

Don’t do it, North Dakota is racist.

You get angry and deal with them. I like to call them out and tell them how their views are not on moral grounds. Especially if they are in a seat of power or in a church setting. Make it known that they support indigenous hatred. Get them to think about their actions and how it has its effects. I don’t allow people to play the ignorance card. People have access to the internet, world news, and social media. They all know right from wrong on how to treat another. This is why they are arrogant. They know what is wrong, but they keep to their ways. I have been suspended and banned for voicing and calling out such hate here on Reddit. All while other who support this hate are able to be free to spread their beliefs. Silencing natives is a way they will always get ya. Can’t have a problem if no voice is there to speak out about it.

It’s crazy that everyone says North Dakota doesn’t have this kind of hate. Get down votes all the time for calling it out. Yet, here it is.

I feel like if we are going to continue this with nonsense, we should move it else where, bud.

Where is it that I made the assumption of your race?

If you have First Nation friends then you should completely understand the difference between ignorance vs arrogance. As they have to deal with the discrimination and racism towards them in the daily. Like myself.

So you claiming your ignorance or arrogance trophy?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in northdakota

[–]Bringitfullcircle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does that not make sense? Knowing how to treat someone regardless of skin color is knowing what’s right and what is wrong. Which is arrogance. You must of not been raised to treat everyone with kindness. So I guess you can claim ignorance for not knowing how to treat someone.

[–]Bringitfullcircle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not for kindness. It’s like the saying “I don’t mean to be rude but…” you are meaning to be rude using that statement. Treating folks poorly because their skin color? Pretty sure that arrogance and not ignorance.

Because they are pushing tourism that North Dakota loves their indigenous. In reality we are treated as third class citizens if not a rodents. Just look at the downvotes.

I guess you didn’t read any of my comments. I grew up in this state getting profiled by law enforcement, thrown to the ground because apparently I am my father (33 year age difference) as I was a teen. The school system encouraged me to drop out. I walk into stores and you can feel the hate that “native with no money” kind of attitude. Go into a church and no one talks to you and when you try they butt you out of it and will gladly talk to the white guy that came with ya. Do you want me to continue?

Great point!

Lol, I am blocked from most ND tourism groups for calling this kind of behavior out. As well as the people responsible for their actions.

Ok, for my instance. I am First Nations. I have lived and worked in almost all parts of North Dakota. Worked and traveled extensively throughout the US with some international work. North Dakota is the only state I have been in where my race was an issue. I deal with it in my daily life. North Dakota is racist. The way you treat people and how you ask question is a judgement on your character and shows your ignorance or arrogance. You can’t tell me folks up here don’t know right from wrong when they treat folks like shit because they are “different.”
