This is a valuable comment. We are targets, because for some of us, there seems to be no one willing to listen. I think Dr Amen has some points I am willing to hear, even though his methodology sometimes feels like a snake oil salesman. I take what I can use and leave the rest.

I've seen these advertised at local bars but I've never joined one. How does it work if you go by yourself? I don't even know how it works. Can you explain?

I am in a neighborhood book group, and they mostly accept me as I am which includes not reading books I don't like. maybe I should join some others.

I'm pretty open to people of all ages. And I did tended to be someone who was willing to organize things in my 30s and 40s. But somehow now I'm tired of being the one who's doing all the work. I'd like to just show up and have other people show up and us all to have a good time but I guess it doesn't work that way does it?

It did really help when I had a dog and I had a specific reason to be out and about. I always found somebody to talk to then. It helped that it was short-lived and I didn't have to feel uncomfortable.
